Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 7 ~ Farm Fresh Girl ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch... we're on Sketch 7 now! I hope that you've found some inspiration from the sketches I've been sharing. I know that they have come in handy for me! This month's new sketch was perfect for the new Farm Fresh Girl from Unity Stamp Co. So excited to see two new Angie Girls released for the Cyber Week Sale!! Yay!

This month's sketch is pretty CAS {Clean and Simple}. It's great for Angie Girls and larger stamps. And it's also great for those scraps of pattern paper. I found a couple scraps from my Simple Vintage Country Christmas paper pad from Simple Stories. I wanted a bit of plaid and traditional red and green Christmas colors so these were perfect!

Here's the Copic Markers I used to color up this beautiful new Farm Fresh Girl:

Hair ~ E70, E74, E79
Hat ~ R20, R14, R27, C00, C2
Sweater ~ R20, R14, R27
Pants ~ W00, W1, W3
Tree ~ YG11, G24, G46, R14, R27, E23, E27

Here's a look at the sketch... I did alter my measurements a little bit for my card. My plaid scrap was a bit wider measuring 1-1/8". The sentiment is also wider and I mat it was a little scrap of pattern paper.

If you're liking the fun new sketch I shared, I sure hope you'll join us in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group. I would love to see what you create with this sketch! Don't forget to check out Unity's Cyber Week Sale... lots of beautiful new releases and another fab sale!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Membership Monday ~ November 2022 Kit of the Month ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie sharing one more card for the November 2022 Kit of the Month. Today I have a mixed media style black & white card with just a touch of red.

Do you ever get a fun idea for a card but you're not sure how it's going to come together? Well, that was this card for me. Another mixed media style card but I wanted it simple in black and white.

A few snowflakes with the fun 'ho ho ho' sentiment gave some interest to the top of the card. A trio of trees in the bottom left corner and then Santa popped up on the card. Love all the subtle texture and dimension!

The sentiment was heat embossed on black card stock with white pigment ink and white embossing powder; trimmed and adhered to the card front.

You can check out my process video for this card here... Black & White Christmas Card | November 2022 Kit of the Month | Unity Stamp Co.

Bookmark Pocket Slimline Card ~ Winnie the Pooh: Enjoy the Day, Pooh ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today is the last day for the Black Friday sale over at Unity Stamp Co!! I don't know about you but each addition to the Winnie the Pooh stamps has been a must have for me!! I couldn't wait to play with the new Enjoy the Day, Pooh!! Who doesn't love a cute picnic stamp!?

This fun bookmark pocket slimline card would make a fun little gift for a book loving friend. I made the bookmark using a slimline die from Pinkfresh Studio called Slim Ornate Banner. I punched a hole on the top with a handy Crop-a-Dile... anyone else still have one of these in their stash? I added a couple pretty ribbons and tied them off with {Natural} May Arts Burlap string.

To make the pocket on the card I die cut two pieces of pattern paper from the Apple Pickin' {paper pack} from Unity using the . I trimmed them to fit on the 8-1/2 x 3-1/2" card base leaving a skinny border of Spring Moss card stock from Papertrey Ink. I adhered those layers together and then also die cut a piece of Vellum card stock, also from Papertrey Ink. I trimmed it to the same size as the light green pattern paper. I adhered it along the outer edges with Plus Vellum glue tape {not sure of the actual brand... this was a gift from a crafty friend}.

How cute is this picnic stamp, though?! I believe this is another wonderful illustration by Angie Blom. I just love her stamps so much!

I tried to keep the Copic coloring for this pretty simple and just used two Copic markers for each image with exception to Piglet's sweater and the picnic blanket... I think I used three markers for those. I know some that are new to Copics get intimated by all the markers... I did when I was just starting out so I hope showing how easy it is with just a couple markers to achieve nice shading will help some of you take the leap and give Copics {or the other alcohol markers} a try. Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:

Skin ~ E00, E11
Hair ~ E30, E33
Pooh / Shirt ~ Y11, Y15
Shorts ~ B00, B12
Honey Pot ~ R20, R14
Piglet ~ RV10, RV21, RV14
Dishes ~ B000, B00
Cookies ~ E33, E35
Picnic Blanket ~ YG91, C00, YG95
Flowers ~ Y15, RV21
Grass ~ YG03, YG11
Rock ~ N1, N4
Book / Socks ~ C00, C2
Shoes ~ N4, N6

Head over to Unity and check out all the fab new releases... and the wonderful Black Friday deals!!!

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 28 ~ November 2022 Whit Kit ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I'm back with more inspiration for the {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 28. Today I'm sharing a sweet set of holiday cards using the wonderful November 2022 Whit Kit from Unity Stamp Co. Once I designed my first card, I thought why not make a few more... so here we have them!

This card sketch makes for such easy cards especially when you have a circle focal piece which I did with the fab stamps in this set. I used the Ornamental Greetings Ornament dies to cut out my green layer for the ornament focal piece {the photo makes that layer look darker... almost black, but it's a lovely Pinefeather green card stock from Papertrey Ink}.

I stamped each of the images on white card stock with Pinefeather ink from Papertrey Ink. I die cut each of them with the dies included in the kit. I also die cut the ornament tops from Pure Poppy card stock from Papertrey Ink.

The bottom pattern papers for these cards are such an easy cut which is also why I decided to make some more. Since the pattern papers included in the kit are 6x6" I just needed to cut them at 3-7/8" and then cut them in half at 3" and it gave me two bottom pieces measuring 3-7/8 x 3". Easy peasy.

I adhered the pattern paper to Pure Poppy card stock mats measuring 4 x 5-1/4" and then adhered them to white A2 top fold card bases. I popped up the ornament focal pieces with foam tape. And to finish off the cards I added a few Red Green Mirror Foil enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs.

Here's a look at the whole card kit... love it!

A pretty set of holiday cards all ready to go! I've really enjoyed this sketch... I'll probably revisit it often. If you're interested in seeing my video for this card, you can check it out here... BYSHC Sketch 28 | November 2022 Whit Kit | Unity Stamp Co.

Mixed Media Background ~ November Challenge ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing one last card for the November Build Your Holiday Stash Challenge in the Unity Show & Tell. A beautiful mixed media card featuring the wonderful Good Tidings to You stamp!

Sometimes it just feels good to get inky... know what I mean?! The mixed media background for this card was so fun to create. A bit of heat embossing, some oxide ink smooshing and I finished it off with dry embossing with an embossing folder.

The background was also die cut with the largest dies from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. And then adhered to a kraft A2 top fold card base.

The poinsettia was stamped with Black Amalgam ink and then colored with the following Copic markers:

Poinsettia ~ RV10, RV21, RV14, RV29, Y11, Y15, Y28
Leaves ~ YG11, YG23
Pine Needles ~ YG11, G24, G46
Tiny Leaves ~ YG11, G24

The beautiful sentiment is the recently released Greetings of the Season {die set}. I die cut it from green card stock three times and then once from pink card stock. The 'merry' is three layers of green card stock adhered together and then adhered to the kraft outline die cut. The 'christmas' is two bottom layers of green card stock and then a pink layer on top. Such a fun way to mix it up!

You can check out my video for this card here... Mixed Media Background | November Challenge | Unity Stamp Co.

Have you played along with this month's challenge? If you do be sure to share your cards in the Unity Show & Tell group and also add them to the November challenge album in the group to be entered for a prize!! See you back here next Thursday... {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 28 ~ STAMPtember 2020 ~ Tim Holtz & Simon Says Stamp

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing my weekly Christmas card using the {BYSHC} Sketch 28 and I'm pretty excited that I finally inked up one of these snarky kitties. This hilarious kitty is from the STAMPtember 2020 stamp set from Tim Holtz and Simon Says Stamp. I just love him and the sentiment!

I still had the Paper Stash - Christmas papers from Tim Holtz and Idea-ology on my desk so I just used a couple pieces from those papers. Isn't this plaid amazing... or is it flannel with those line details in the pattern?! Well, in either case I love it and it was perfect with this kitty.

I do kind of wish I'd gone with a grey for the cat but I think the orange is a nice contrast. Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:

Kitty ~ YR30, YR21, YR15, YR68, YR24, W00, W3; C00, C3 {eyes}
Lights ~ C00, C3, R20, R14, R37

I die cut kitty with one of the awesome recently released Scallops & Circles {nesting dies} from Unity Stamp Co. I popped up the circle and the heat embossed sentiment with foam tape.

I added drops of Glossy Accents to the lights for some shine. So fun! Well, that's it for me this week.

Here's a look at {BYSHC} Sketch 28 for the month of November!

Copic Colored Vintage Poinsettia ~ November Challenge ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing inspiration for the November Build Your Holiday Stash Challenge in the Unity Show & Tell. Today I have a card featuring the gorgeous, newly released Vintage Poinsettia stamp from Unity Stamp Co!

Vintage for me almost always means kraft card stock is required. Copic coloring on kraft gives the image muted tones which I also think has a nice vintage vibe. A bit of distressing around the edges with some Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress ink along with distressed edges from a pair of scissors or a paper distresser completes the vintage look.

To give the card a bit more dimension I stamped two poinsettias. I colored just the middle and smallest part of the flower on the one that was my top layer. And then I colored the biggest bottom part of the flower on the other stamped poinsettia giving the middle petals just a bit of color because the outer edges would be visible once the top layer was popped up with foam tape.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up this beautiful poinsettia on kraft card stock:

Red ~ R20, R14, R37, R59
Green ~ YG11, G24, G46
Yellow ~ Y06, Y15, Y28

I fussy cut both portions of the poinsettia. Cleaned up the edges by coloring them with black marker and popped up my top layer with foam tape. I adhered all my layers onto a kraft A2 top fold card base. And to finish it off, I added some Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer to the center of the poinsettia along with a few dots of white gel pen.

You can check out my video for this card here... Copic Colored Vintage Poinsettia | November Challenge | Unity Stamp Co.

Peek-a-Boo Fun Fold Snowman Card ~ Cozy Greetings ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I have a sweet holiday card to share today featuring a super cute snowman stamp called Cozy Greetings from Unity Stamp Co. The Brown Thursday sale is now the Black Friday sale and the amazing deals continue!!

I paired up this cutie with the Cozy Christmas {paper pack}... doesn't he just look all cozy like he's cuddled up in blankets! Ha!

This is actually a fun fold card so the edge where the cute snowman is peeking out is where the card opens up.

I used the following Copic markers to color up the snowman:

Snowman ~ B0000, B000
Nose ~ YR21, YR15, YR68
Hat / Mittens / Scarf ~ C00, C2, R20, R14, R37

Here you can see the card opening... a fun peek-a-boo fun fold card design. You can check out my video for this card here... Peek-a-Boo Fun Fold Snowman Card | Cozy Greetings | Unity Stamp Co.

To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment, trimmed it with a fishtail end and adhered it directly to the card. I really like how this turned out! Head over to Unity and check out all the fab new releases... and the wonderful Black Friday deals!!!

Super Cute Notebooks ~ Craftaholicmomma

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today's blog post is a little different from my usual post sharing card making inspiration. My sweet crafty friend Stacy Tiedemann AKA Craftaholicmomma just started selling a super cute and fun line of notebooks on Amazon. She has journals, notebooks, planners, composition books and so much more!! There are several amazing designs available - seriously, there's something for everyone!

I am a huge fan of notebooks... in fact, I'm a bit obsessed with them! I collect them for all sorts of things... journaling, note taking, lists and so much more! I also keep a good supply of Composition Books on hand for our homeschool. These Composition Books are 7.5 x 9.25". They are college ruled and have 110 pages. The covers on these have a glossy finish which I think would be great for kids - easy to wipe off with a damp cloth when they get dirty!

My kids love to journal, doodle and color in all kinds of notebooks so I got a couple for them too! A fun Gamer Composition Book for my gamer son.

And a super cute Critter Composition Book for my bunny loving daughter!! She just loves all the critters on here.

There's an assortment of quarterly planners, as well... one for each season! I just love the beautiful colors on the Fall Planner. I haven't started using mine yet so I'm going to save it for next year, but I am definitely ordering the Winter Planner! After seeing all the details in this planner from calendar dates, notes, goals, and day-by-day to-do lists... I know it will be super handy during the Holidays! The quarterly planners are 8.5 x 11" and have 84 pages. They also have a wonderful matte finish.

I must confess that my favorite book so far is this adorable Holiday Greeting Card Address Book! I just love these adorable deer on the cover and the beautiful colors! There's a couple different designs available for this one, too. There's lots of room to enter friends and families names, addresses, phone numbers and emails. And there's boxes to check off that you've sent out those cards and gifts! So handy! This book is also 8.5 x 11" with 100 pages and also has that lovely matte finish.

If you'd like a peek inside these wonderful notebooks, you can check out my video here... Super Cute Notebooks | Craftaholicmomma.

Membership Monday ~ Color Burst Backgrounds ~ November 2022 Kit of the Month ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I'm back for Membership Monday with inspiration for the November 2022 Kit of the Month! Today I’m sharing fun watercolored cards using Color Burst which is a fine concentrated powder colorant to be used with water on porous surfaces. A wonderful and quick way to make a great background to showcase any stamp!

For my first card, I stamped Santa with VersaFine Onyx Black ink on Canson XL Watercolor paper. I used ZIG Clean Color Real Brush markers to watercolor Santa. Fussy cut him and set him aside.

Santa's background was created with Terre Verte and Chartreuse Color Bursts. I love the texture that the bursts of color give to the card!

The trimmed background was mat with a green card stock measuring 4 x 5-1/4". It was then adhered to a red card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" that was adhered to a white A2 top fold card base.

My second card and I have to say I really love the pop of colors on this one! Same steps as the first card, I stamped it with VersaFine Onyx Black ink on Canson XL Watercolor paper and used ZIGs to watercolor it.

The background was created with Ultramarine Blue and Violet Color Bursts. I used a heat tool to help the drying process on both of the backgrounds.

This panel was trimmed to 4 x 5-1/4" and adhered to a purple card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". I adhered it to a white A2 top fold card base, as well. You can check out my video sharing this technique here… Quick Color Burst Backgrounds | November 2022 Kit of the Month | Unity Stamp Co.

Here’s a look at the whole Kit of the Month for November!! Isn't it awesome?! I couldn't wait for this KOM to get to my mailbox!

Hope you've been inspired to get inky with your November Kit of the Month and if you haven't received yours yet, why not try this technique with stamps from a past KOM! I just love this technique. I hope you'll give it a try.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Crystal
