~ Friends of Unity March 2022 Blog Hop ~

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's one of my favorite times of the month... time for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop!!
Before I share the cue or my cards, I want to say a big THANK YOU to one of our sweet friends who shared some of her duplicates for our Friends of Unity giveaways! You know who you are... I appreciate you! Now, onto our cue...

... a Kraft, Black & White color combo!! A fun neutral color combo!! I've been very excited for this one, but I was seriously stuck when it came time to create. I did a quick search on Pinterest which didn't actually have much but seeing a few random cards with mandalas inspired me for my first card.

My first card using the beautiful heart mandala and a sentiment from the January 2022 KOM called Found in the Heart.

Such a quick card with some simple stamping and a little acrylic paint splatter.

I added a few black enamel dots. A layer of white and black card stock to finish off the design. I wish I had stamped the sentiment a smidge higher - closer to the middle, but I still like how the card turned out.

My second card is a card that I made for my second oldest son who we just graduated from high school. We're so proud of him! The card is pretty simple with a black base layer and then I die cut a layer of Kraft card stock with the Falling Stars {background die}. I added some white acrylic paint splatter for a touch of white on the bottom layer.

I stamped the graduate from the You Did Good stamp kit with Gina K. Black Amalgam ink. I die cut the stamped image with the smallest stitched rectangle die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting die} and mat it on black card stock.

I used a white Prismacolor pencil to color around the image to give the image a bit of dimension and to add a bit more white to the card. I finished off the card by stamping the sentiment with Wow Clear Embossing ink and heat embossed some Alabaster white embossing powder. The sentiment is popped up with foam tape. I think it turned out nice. I hope my son likes it.

For my last card I've veered away from our cue to support #cardsforukraine. Sending prayers, love and support to the Ukrainian people.

I stamped the script stamp from the Spring Inspired {Layers of Life March 2014} kit and the stitching stamp from the Time to be Happy Again {Layers of Life January 2015} kit on the distress watercolor card stock with Wow Clear Embossing ink. I melted some Alabaster white embossing powder and then ink smooshed Mustard Seed and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks.

I splattered some water and a bit of Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink on the panel. I stamped the stitching stamp with the Mustard Seed ink and the Blueprint Sketch ink. And then I stamped the flourish from the Time to be Happy Again {LOL January 2015} kit three times on the panel with the Blueprint Sketch ink.

I stamped the sunflower and sentiments from the Sunflower Wishes {September 2021 Sentiment Kit} and then I colored up the sunflower with Y06, Y35, and YR27 Copic markers. I fussy cut the sunflower and popped it up on the card with foam tape. I trimmed around the sentiments leaving a skinny white border and adhered it to the card at an angle similar to the script stamp. And finished off the card with a few black enamel dots. My heart breaks for the Ukrainian people. My mother's father, my grandfather, was from the Ukraine and I remember meeting some of our extended family when I was just a kid. Unfortunately, we have not stayed in touch but I hope and pray that they are all safe and well.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize package and that lucky winner is...
