Happy Camping Slimline Card ~ Happy Camper ~ Polka Dot Orchard

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a super quick slimline card that I made using the sweet Happy Camper {Say It Slim} digi stamp set from Polka Dot Orchard! I just love the {Say It Slim} line of digital stamps that Polka Dot Orchard has to offer and even though I'm more of a glamper I thought it would be fun to play with the Happy Camper {Say It Slim} digi stamp set!

My favorite technique when wanting to ink blend a background for a digital stamp image is to actually do my ink blending first. For this card I ink blended just Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed over about 1/3 of a piece of card stock and then I dried it with my Mini Wagner heat tool.

I printed the Happy Camper {Say It Slim} digi stamp on my ink blended card stock and die cut it with the Stitched Slimline die from Gina Marie Designs. I also die cut a piece of Kraft card stock. I trimmed the two ends of the ink blended background and adhered it to the die cut Kraft card stock. I wrapped a little May Arts Black burlap string around each end and adhering the top string with tape and then tying a little bow for the bottom string.

I adhered my focal piece to a True Black card base measuring 7 x 6-1/2", scored at 3-1/2". Now, here is where I goofed up my card just a bit... I added some Nuvo Black Board Vintage drops and for some reason my drops spit on my card. I used my palette knife to get some of it up but it smudged the printer ink when I tried to wipe the rest up with a paper towel. I decided to go with it and redid my drop making it a bit bigger to cover up the smudge. I think it still looks nice. It was definitely a quick card to make though... I think this quick design would work great with any of the {Say It Slim} digi stamps!!

Here's a look at the cute Happy Camper {Say It Slim} digi stamp set... isn't it just perfect for slimline cards?! Plus it has all those little extra digi stamps! I love it!

~ Friends of Unity August 2021 Blog Hop ~

  Hello there crafty friend!

It's time for our August 2021 Friends of Unity blog hop!! Before I get to this month's fun cue and the cards I created... we have a new friend joining us!!

Please give April Sarandrea a great big welcome!!!

I've admired her fantastic creations... such a talented lady and I was super excited when she accepted our invitation to join our little hop! Let's get to it, shall we?!
This month we have a super fun cue...

LET'S GO FOR A RIDE!
I had fun with this cue... it's actually a great one for masculine cards, but I took three totally different takes on the cue. I hope you'll check them out and let me know in the comments which is your favorite!

My first card using the gorgeous Fall truck from the August 2021 KOM called Pumpkin Season. I wanted to do a monochromatic card but then I also had to color the truck and the pumpkins so this is a mix of monochromatic and selective coloring! LOL... I used a fun Happy Fall embossing folder for my background. Not sure what company it's from... it doesn't say on it.

I die cut the truck with a large circle die from Waffle Flower called Additional Circles die. I trimmed the sentiment... also from this month's KOM... and adhered it to the circle. Then I popped up the sentiment and focal piece with lots of foam tape. Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:

Truck ~ BG70, BG72, BG75
Pumpkins ~ YR15, YR21, YR68, YG61, YG67, E37, E55
Grounding ~ N0, N2

For my second card I also used a fun embossing folder called Diamond Plate from Sizzix and Tim Holtz. I embossed the True Black card front and a scrap of Weathervane card stock. I trimmed the Weathervane card stock and adhered it to the card front. I adhered those to a white A2 top fold card base and set it aside.

I stamped the motorcycle from the Ride it Out stamp set with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored it with a few neutral grey Copic markers ~ N0, N1, N3; and a couple cool grey markers ~ C00, C2. I fussy cut the motorcycle cleaning up the edges with a Memento Tuxedo black marker and adhered it to the card. I stamped the sentiment from the For the Guys stamp set with Wow Clear embossing ink and melted some Alabaster White embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. I trimmed the sentiment and popped it up on the card. I'm thinking this one will be my husband's birthday card.

And for my last card, I had a little fun with the cue... witches gotta ride, too!! Am I right?! LOL
I thought it would be fun to make a quick Halloween card with the adorable Little Witchy stamp set. I again used an embossing folder for my background... the Spider Web embossing folder from Provo Craft Cuttlebug... and used some fun Halloween pattern paper this time. This is the Hocus Pocus papers from Whimsy Stamps. The pattern paper cracked a bit when I embossed it but I kinda like the distressed look it gives the background.

I stamped the adorable witch with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored her up with the following Copic markers:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11, R00, R20
Hair ~ RV06, RV10, RV21
Clothes / Hat / Shoes ~ YG11, G14, N0, N2, N3, N5
Broom ~ E21, E27, E33, E51

I fussy cut the witch and cleaned up the edges with my Memento Tuxedo black marker. I adhered her to the card and then stamped the sentiment with Wow Clear embossing ink and melted some Alabaster White embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment and adhered it to the card. Done!

Well, that's it for my cards this month... before you head off to the next person in the hop I need to announce my winner from last month's hop.

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 13 ~ Warm & Cozy ~ Not 2 Shabby

 Hello there crafty friend!

Today I'm sharing another sweet card using the fun {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 13 along with an adorable stamp from Not 2 Shabby called Warm & Cozy!! I just couldn't wait to ink up this adorable penguin... isn't it the cutest stamp ever!! Love!

I started by stamping the sweet penguin with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloring it up with the following Copic markers:

Penguin ~ N1, N3, N5, C00, C2, YR15, YR68, R000, R14
Hat ~ BG0000, BG11, BG23, R000, R14, R27, C00, C2
Scarf - C00, C2, BG0000, BG11, BG23

I die cut the penguin and set it aside. Now, I had to find a paper pack with similar colors... I've been pretty good about doing this step first, but not this time! Luckily I remembered the Milk & Cookies papers by Doodlebug Design has an aqua/turquoise color so I went with that one. It doesn't match perfectly, but it coordinates well enough. I'm also trying to use up this endless pack of papers... lol... I'm starting to think it was two packs at one point because no matter how much I use it, there seems to be more of it!! I followed the sketch very closely except for the mat behind the tree paper which is 4-1/8 x 2-1/8"... that layer needed that little of white to help it pop. I stamped the sentiment which is actually separate stamps in the stamp set. I used Memento Tuxedo black again... I trimmed the sentiment and popped both the sentiment and the sweet penguin up on the card! Done!

Here's another look at {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 13.
I sure hope that you're inspired to pull out your holiday stamps and papers and get a jump on your holiday cards! If you'd like to see more inspiration for this sketch check out the {BYSH} Cardmaker's Blog!!

Membership Monday ~ August 2021 KOM Pumpkin Season ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!

I'm back with another Membership Monday post and this time I'm super excited to share a card I made using the absolutely gorgeous new August 2021 Kit of the Month called Pumpkin Season from Unity Stamp Co.!! Woohoo!! I love Fall!! All the gorgeous colors and the pretty pumpkins and comfy sweaters... just make me so happy!

I just love love love this beautiful stamp!! It was the first one that caught my eye in the kit. I colored it up pretty quick with the following Copic markers:

Hat ~ V01, V05, N0, N2, N3, N5, N7
Pumpkins ~ YR15, YR21, YR68, E51, E55, E57
Leaves ~ YG11, G14
Flowers ~ V01, V05, Y06, YR15, YR68

A close up of the card... Stay Spooky!
Such a fun sentiment for Halloween! The background was created super quick with two pieces of pattern paper from the Trick or Treat {paper pack} from Unity! I love these papers! I tore the edge of the black with white polka dot paper to give it some texture. I adhered the sentiment to the scrap of green striped pattern paper and then adhered it to the bottom corner of the focal piece. I popped up the focal piece and sentiment with foam tape but before I adhered it to the card, I wrapped the card with a wide black organdy ribbon and tied a pretty bow. And then I adhered the entire card front to a white A2 top fold card base. Love it!

I hope you like you it too! I'll be back next week with another sweet card using stamps from the August 2021 Kit of the Month!

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 13 ~ Going to be Owl-Right ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new sketch challenge!! Today starts the {BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 13... and it's a fun mini slimline sketch for the month of August! Slimline cards are super popular and I think the mini slimline cards are becoming just as popular so why not give it a try?! I'm actually loving the mini slimline size... it really works awesome with 6 x 6" papers which is most of my paper stash!

My first card for Sketch 13 features the adorable owl from the Going to be Owl-Right stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. I've paired it up with some pretty papers called 12 Days of Christmas and they are from The Paper Studio. The sentiment is from the Merry Girl stamp set also from Unity Stamp Co.

I actually stuck pretty much to the sketch for this one... just adding a mat to my tree layer that measures 4-1/8 x 2-1/8". I love that the bird kinda sticks out from the circle. I think it adds a bit of interest to the card. What do you think?

I used the following Copic markers to color up this sweet owl and his friend:

Owl ~ W00, W1, W2, W3, W5, W7, YR15, YR21, YR68
Branch ~ E25, E51, E55, YR15, YR21, YR68
Bird ~ R000, R14, R20, R27, G24, G43

Halloween Shaker Card ~ Toil and Trouble ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a Halloween shaker card I made using the awesome new Toil and Trouble stamp set that was just released at Unity Stamp Co.!! I love making Halloween cards and this new stamp set is so detailed... it was really fun to play with!

I don't typically like making shaker cards because they just don't work out for me but I'm happy to say that this one was actually fun to create! I used the beautiful Trick or Treat {paper pack} but I grunged it up with some Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. I die cut the orange layer with an oval die and then die cut a layer of black card stock with a slightly smaller oval die. I added a few touches of color to the witch stamp with the following Copic markers:

Skin ~ YG0000
Hair ~ YG0000, YG13, G14
Hat / Clothes ~ V01, V05, V06, YG13, G14, N0, N2
Cauldron ~ N0, N2, YG0000, YG13, G14, E51, E55
Fire ~ YR09, YR15, YR68, Y06
Spoon ~ E51, E55, E57

I fussy cut the witch and adhered her to the back of the orange layer. And then I adhered the black layer behind her. I adhered a piece of clear card stock over the back of the black layer and then added a bunch of foam tape around the oval shape and all over the card front. I grunged up a piece of the green pattern paper with the same Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and adhered it to a black card front measuring 5-1/2 x 4-1/4". I used my Ranger Anti Static pouch all over the green pattern paper and the clear card stock to control the static cling with the sequins. I added some shaker bits from Studio Katia called Black Dust and Spooky Satin Confetti to the green layer and then popped up my top layer.

I added a bit of Black Soot Distress Oxide ink around the sentiment and mat it on black card stock. I adhered it to the card and added a few sequins to the card to finish it off.

Check out the new releases over at Unity Stamp Co... there's this cool Halloween set and another cute one that I made this card with ---> Halloween Cuteness card
