Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 40 ~ Turtley ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing my first card for the new Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 40 in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group. I've been trying to do a better job this year in sending out birthday cards but now I realize I need to replenish my stash.

I stamped the adorable Turtley with Black Amalgam ink and colored it up with Copic Markers. I also stamped the cake from Extended Celebration {Front & Center Stamps}.

Copics used:
Turtle: BG000, BG10, BG70, BG72, E21
Flowers: Y11, Y15
Grass / Stems: YG11, YG23
Cake: B000, B00, YG11, YG23, R20, R14, YR20, YR15, Y11, Y15
Candles: V000, V12, Y15

I trimmed the pattern papers from Oh Hey! It's Your Day! {paper pack} to 3-3/4 x 5" and then I cut them in half diagonally. This gave me two pieces for each paper so I set the other ones aside for later. I trimmed a piece of red card stock to 4 x 5-1/4" and cut it in half diagonally for my mats. I adhered the papers together and then adhered them to a Kraft A2 top fold card base.

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 40. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it. I actually have some triangle scraps so I'm hoping to use them for my cards this month.

I decided to die cut a sentiment so I pulled out the Chic Script Salutations {die set} and die cut the happy birthday sentiment two times from a green card stock. I added some glossy accents to the turtles eyes and finished off the card with a few pieces of White Glossy Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs. Lots of possibilities with this fun sketch! I sure hope you can find time to play along. I can't wait to see what you create. Have an INKredible week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

~ Friends of Unity June 2025 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! This month's cue is the only one that we do annually! I love seeing all of the inspiration for this cue!

This month's cue is MASCULINE! I don't know about you but sometimes I really struggle with making masculine cards. But for this hop I made a couple cute cards that I think have a masculine flair.

First up a fun Dad day card I made using the super fun Dad Mode Grumpy Bunny. I LOVE this bunny! He is just too cute. And the sentiment is funny.

I stamped the bunny and sentiment with Black Amalgam ink. I colored the bunny with Copic markers and then I die cut the bunny with a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. I trimmed up the sentiment and popped them both up on the card with foam tape.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Bunny: C0, C2, C3, R00, R20
Eyes: C0, C2, R00
Robe: E11, E25, YG95, G99
Ground: C2, C3

I went with a simple but fun design. I cut some of my precious Basic Grey stash... **YIKES** I know! But I have so much and it's just sitting there collecting dust. Why not put it to good use?! These are the Archaic papers. SO perfect for a masculine card! I cut a triangle from this fun striped designed paper and adhered it over another pattern paper from the pad. I then cut 1/8" strips of black card stock and adhered those on either side of the triangle for a faux mat. I thought that would be WAY easier than trying to cut a triangle mat.

Next up is a cute Father's Day card featuring the adorable Turtley stamp. Such a super cute stamp! I love it! This one was so much fun to color too! The sentiment is from the Best Tool in the Box stamps. Another great stamp kit for Father's Day cards.

I colored up the turtle with some Copic markers and then I die cut the panel with a die from the Scallops & Squares {nesting dies}

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Turtle: YG21, BG000, YG11
Shell: YG21, BG000, YG11, E21, E23, E29
Ground: YG11, G94
Sky: BG000
Flowers: Y11, YR23, YR15, YG11, G94

I used the same paper pack for this one as the bunny card... the Archaic paper pad from Basic Grey. The shapes and colors in these papers just scream MASCULINE!! Anywho, I used a past {BYSHC} sketch for my design. Having all these sketches in my arsenal sure makes the card designing easy peasy. I die cut the paper under the turtle using the next size up. I finished off the card by popping up the turtle and the sentiment. I think my husband will like this one or maybe I'll give him the other one. Not sure.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...

Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 25 ~ Speedy ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new sketch challenge! Today I'm sharing my first card for the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 25 in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group.  I pulled out this adorable stamp the other day but didn't get around to using it so I thought it would be fun for this new sketch.

I didn't pick a pack of papers {say that 3 times fast!} yet to finish up. Still hoping to find a Fall themed paper pack. So I went looking through my Unity papers for papers that would go well with this little cutie. And, of course, the By The Sea {paper pack} is just perfect!

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 25. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it.

I stamped the adorable Speedy turtle using Black Amalgam ink from Gina K. Designs. I also stamped the sentiment using the same ink except that I masked the heart. After stamping the sentiment a few times in my Stamp Platform, I stamped the little heart. For this I used the Pink Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker. I colored up the turtle using my Copic markers. Fussy cut him on the line and then cleaned up the fussy cutting by coloring the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Turtle: BG000, BG10, BG70, BG72
Shell: BG70, BG72, BG75
Hearts: R81, R83, R85

I die cut a circle of white card stock using a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. All my layers are adhered directly to a white A2 top fold card base turned on its side for a landscape card. I added a scrap of paper under the top of the sentiment so it would lay flat. I added foam tape to the back of the turtle and popped him up on the circle. And then I finished off the card with three pink enamel dots from my stash. Still trying to make a dent in my enamel dots stash. Yikes! Do I have a lot!!

I hope you all have fun with this sketch! I can't wait to see what you create with it.
Have an ink-tastic week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Crystal

July Scraps Cards ~ Just Keep Swimming plus More ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I finished up my latest batch of leftover scraps and turned them into four pretty simple cards. Yay! I also played with some stamps that hadn't seen ink yet which is always a great bonus! It feels so good to have some more papers done!

Here's a look at the four cards all together. All very different! I'd love to know if you have a favorite of the batch. If you have a moment, comment below and let me know.

My first card features the beautiful turtle from the Just Keep Swimming stamps. I love this turtle! It's always so much fun to color too. As far as the scraps for this card, I had a bunch of paper strips that were different lengths and widths. I decided to combine them for a fun background. I adhered them all to a 3-1/2 x 3-7/8" piece of thin card stock. I trimmed off the excess paper strips and adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base. I die cut some Vellum Card Stock from Papertrey Ink using the Stitched Wave Borders dies from Lawn Fawn for a fun wave background for the turtle.

I stamped the turtle with Black Amalgam ink from Gina K. Designs. I colored up the turtle using my Copic markers and then I fussy cut it on the line. I colored the edges of the fussy cutting using a Memento Tuxedo Black marker from behind the turtle just in case my marker slipped. I secured the vellum waves together using washi tape and then I trimmed the excess so they would fit over the 3-1/2 x 3-7/8" panel. I adhered the turtle tucking his bottom behind the last vellum wave. I adhered the vellum to the card by adding glue to the back of the turtle. Once it was a little dry and wouldn't shift anymore, I added a drop of liquid glue to the bottom corners of the vellum to secure it a tiny bit more. I also added tiny dots of glue under the stitches on the very edge of each layer. The stitches covered the glue pretty well. You can see the glue a tiny bit on those bottom corners but it's hardly noticeable in person. I finished this card by stamping the sentiment.

Copic Markers: BG000, BG01, BG15, BG05, BG57, V0000, V12, V15

My second card uses three similar strips of pattern paper for a quick card design. I adhered them to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of Vintage Cream Card Stock from Papertrey Ink. And then I adhered the card front to a white A2 top fold card base of Stampers Select White Card Stock, also from Papertrey Ink. I stamped the adorable mermaid from the Spirit of a Mermaid stamps using Black Amalgam Ink and I also stamped the sentiment on the card. Sadly, this is one of the retired stamp sets from Unity. I colored up this beauty with my Copic markers and fussy cut her just like I did with the turtle. I added a touch of Sakura White Gelly Roll pen to the whites of her eyes and the frill on her top. And I popped her up on the card using foam tape.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used for the mermaid:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, R00, R20
Hair: E50, E30, E35, E37
Crown: Y11, Y15, Y28
Body / Tail: V0000, V000, V12, V15
Sailboat: Y11, Y15, R12, R05, E30, E35
Waves: BG000, BG01, BG15
Bottle: BG000
Cork: E30, E35, E37

My third card uses four rectangle scraps for an interesting background. I overlapped them just a bit and adhered them all to a white A2 top fold card base. I stamped the fish from the retiring Fishy Philosophy stamps with Black Amalgam ink and fussy cut them. The sentiment I stamped with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I added foam tape to the back of these fish and popped them up on the card. And I finished off the card with a few clear drops from my stash.

Copic Markers: Y11, Y15, YR15

My last card also features the cute fish from the Fishy Philosophy stamps. I love this cute stamp set! I had one last large piece of scrap pattern paper from these papers so I just adhered it directly to white A2 top fold card base that I turned on it's side for a landscape card. This was such a simple card! I stamped the fish and the sentiment using the Black Amalgam ink. I fussy cut the fish just like the others and popped it up on the card, too.

Copic Markers: Y11, Y15, R12, R05

I'm so excited to have another paper pack done! Woohoo! What do you think of the card designs this time? Do you have a favorite? I love the simple designs of all of them so it's hard for me to choose a favorite. Well, I'm excited to pick out another pattern paper pack to finish off. I'll definitely pick one out to use with the upcoming Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 24 that will start in a couple of weeks. Have a wonderfully inky week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Just Keep Swimming Card Set ~ August 2021 Whit Kit ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!

I'm back with a whole set of fun and quick cards using the beautiful August 2021 Whit Kit called Just Keep Swimming from Unity Stamp Co.!! The beautiful By the Sea {paper pack} inspired this quick set of cards with all the white space in the top portion... it screamed for a sentiment!

I trimmed four different papers from the By the Sea {paper pack} down to 4 x 5-1/4" and stamped each of them with one of the four sentiments included in the Just Keep Swimming stamp set.

I adhered each piece to a True Black card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" and then adhered the card fronts to white A2 top fold card bases.

I set those aside and stamped four turtles on scrap pieces of white card stock. I colored each of the turtles pretty quick with just 3 Copic markers ~ BG11, G24, G99.

I fussy cut each of the turtles and cleaned up the edges with a Memento Tuxedo black marker and then I adhered them to the cards. This whole set of cards maybe took me 30 minutes... I think the longest part was the fussy cutting. I'm sharing a quick video on my YouTube channel - showing all the fun goodies in the August 2021 Whit Kit and also how I quickly copic colored the turtles! You can check out that video here... August 2021 Whit Kit Reveal & Quick Copic Coloring of a Turtle.

Here's a quick look at the fun set of cards that I created! These would make a great gift for a friend!

And I used the same basic design only a bit bigger to make a 5 x 7" shaker card using the shaker pocket from the card kit.

Unfortunately the photos didn't turn out very well, but you get the main idea!

Here's another look at this month's fab Whit Kit... if you aren't signed up for this fun membership, you should really give it a go! The kits are so amazing each month!

That's it for me this time. I'll be back tomorrow with my weekly Christmas card!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Just Keep Swimming Shimmer Card ~ August 2021 Whit Kit ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!

Today I'm sharing a pretty card using the beautiful August 2021 Whit Kit called Just Keep Swimming from Unity Stamp Co!! I decided to use the fun Nuvo Shimmer Powder from this Whit Kit and the two other shimmer powders from a past Whit Kit and make a fun background for some turtles to just keep swimming in!!

I created the background by tapping the bottom of each of the Shimmer Powder bottles over a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor card stock and spritzing the card stock with water.

I dried the background and then added some more Shimmer Powder and spritzed more water. I did this a couple of times until I was happy with the background. I let the background dry and then I stamped the cute turtle a few times and the sentiment on the background with Gina K. Amalgam black ink. I trimmed the background to 3-3/4 x 4-3/4" and mat it with a piece of True Black card stock measuring 3-7/8 x 4-7/8".

I added some Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue around the bottom edge and right corner and sprinkled it with the Seaside Sequin mix from the kit. I adhered a few more sequins around the turtles and then let the background dry again. I cut a card front of True Black card stock and then found a scrap piece of Aqua Mist card stock measuring 2-3/8 x 5". I adhered the background piece to the Aqua Mist scrap and than adhered the entire piece to the True Black card front and then a white A2 top fold card base. I just adore the shimmer in this background!! So pretty!

Here's a little look at the August 2021 Whit Kit... so much fun!
I'll be back tomorrow with a set of cards that I created with the kit!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.
