Inky Paws Challenge 238 ~ Showers & Flowers Theme Challenge {Week 1}

 Hello there crafty friend!
Who's up for a new challenge?! It's time to get our paws inky with a fun theme challenge! I always love the theme challenges! So many possibilities! You have until Friday, March 28th to get your entries in for the #238 Showers & Flowers Theme Challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

This will be a fun challenge! I'm excited to see the variety of cards that will be entered.

I stamped the adorable Newton's Rain Boots Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it up with Copic markers. It's die cut using the coordinating Newton's Rain Boots Die Set.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color it up:
Kitty: YR21, YR15, YR27, R00, R20
Daisies: C00, C2, YG11, G14
Tulips: RV10, RV02, YG11, G14
Boots: V000, V12, V15, Y11, Y15
Duck: Y11, Y15, YR21, YR15, YR27

The beautiful pattern papers are from the Spring Blooms 6x6 Paper Pad. I die cut the pretty paper using the hill die from the Land Borders Die Set. The vellum layer behind the kitty was die cut using a die from the Circle Frames Die Set.

I adhered all the layers to a white A2 top fold card base. I adhered the kitty to the vellum circle and then applied glue to the vellum just behind the kitty so it wouldn't be visible through the vellum. I stamped the sentiment and adhered it directly to the card.

You can check out my process video here... You Quack Me Up | Inky Paws Challenge 238 | Newton's Nook Designs.

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project using this fun theme. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 31 ~ Let it Snow ~ Doodlebug Design

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new sketch challenge over in the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers! Today I'm sharing a sweet Christmas card using my favorite Doodlebug Design collection called Let it Snow.

I used a fun mix of pattern papers from the Let it Snow 6x6 paper pad to create my background and layers for my card.

And then I searched through my Let it Snow Chit Chat and Let it Snow Odds & Ends die cut pieces. I had a few different die cuts laid out on my desk including the cute Santas in my photo. But once I saw the sentiment... I just HAD to use the Yeti with this sentiment. Too cute!

I do have a bit of a tip for the the layers in the sketch. I cut a scrap piece of card stock to 3-3/8 x 4-3/8" and adhered my two pattern papers to it {the rainbow polka dots and snowflakes paper}. This was way easier than trying to adhere those two papers to the gingham layer separately and get them centered on the card front.

Here's a look at {BYSHC} Sketch 31 for the month of March!
I hope you'll join us and play along with the sketch! If you're interested in seeing a bit more inspiration for this sketch, check out the amazing inspiration from the design team over on the {BYSH} Cardmakers blog!

Dino Anniversary ~ Unity Sketch Challenge ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a brand new challenge over in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group... a sketch challenge!! I absolutely love a good sketch!! It can help a cardmaker get that mojo going when in a crafty funk! I hope that you all will have fun with the sketch that I came up with for our challenge! But first, let's check out the card I made using the sketch...

A dino Anniversary card... so cute! I couldn't wait to ink up the adorable dinos from the Stomping Great Day stamp kit that just released for Cyber Monday!!

I paired up these cute dinos with some pretty pattern papers for a quick and super easy scene card.

I also die cut the fabulous Happy Anniversary stamp from the I Did. I Do. I Will stamp kit and coordinating die... these also just released!! Love it!

Here's the list of Copic markers that I used for these cuties:

Dino #1 ~ V17, V20, V22, V25, R20, RV13
Dino #2 ~ G09, G14, Y06, Y35

The sentiment was stamped on a strip of white card stock, trimmed and then popped up on the card with foam tape.

Here's a look at the sketch! Not a lot of layers but you can always add layers like I did by matting my little scene with white card stock. Always remember the sketch is meant to inspire not require... have fun with it!! I can't wait to see what you all create with this sketch!

Thanks so much for stomping by! ;)
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal

~ Friends of Unity June 2021 Blog Hop ~

  Hello there crafty friend!
Welcome to our June 2021 Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! Where has the time gone?? I can't believe it's already June!! Our cue this month is...

... Masculine cards!!!

Masculine cards can be hard to make... I struggle sometimes with what colors to use and what about embellishments?! Ribbons? Buttons? Brads? Twine? What to use, what not to use!?!? I know I am not alone in this struggle... thank goodness!

So my first card is my go-to... classic black & kraft! Can't go wrong with this combo for a masculine card! I used the must have Favorite Dad stamp to create a background. I did a little first and second generation stamping for the background... if you're not familiar with those terms, that means I stamped the image once for the first generation and then stamped it again without reinking the stamp for the second generation. I did that technique with Memento Tuxedo black ink and my Stamp Platform.

I then stamped the Good Ol' Days stamp and the Happy Father's Day sentiment, also with Memento Tuxedo black ink on Kraft card stock. I die cut the background with a large stitched rectangle die and then die cut the car with a smaller stitched rectangle die. I mat the background with a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" True Black card front and then adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base. I trimmed the die cut Good Ol' Days car and then mat it on True Black card stock, as well. I adhered the car to the card and then trimmed and mat the sentiment with True Black card stock. I added a couple scraps of card stock under the 'Happy' portion of the the sentiment so it would be level on the card. Done.

I'm entering my first card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, Masculine.

My second card is a punny card... another kind of card that works for the guys! I have been on a mission to ink up those stamps that I just HAD to HAVE but still haven't inked up... and this is one of those stamps! These potatoes from the PUN Potato, Fry {and beans} stamp set are awesome! So fun and they are perfect for my anniversary card for my husband.

I added a bit of texture to the card using a Woodgrain Impression Plate from Papertrey Ink and to play off of the sentiment I used some campfire paper from the Pink Lemonade paper pack by The Paper Studio. I colored up the potatoes with the following Copic markers ~ E30, E33, E37, E51. I die cut the potatoes with a circle die from the Stitched Circle Stacklets from Taylored Expressions. I stamped and trimmed the sentiment and then added a couple layers of scraps under the sentiment to make it level and adhered it to the card. Done.

And my last card is a CAS card... another go-to for the guy cards!! I used the picnic paper from the same paper pad I used for the potato card... Pink Lemonade by The Paper Studio. I also used the Woodgrain Impression Plate again for this one. BUT I used the fun new release Barbecue King by Graciellie Design, available in red rubber at Unity, and...

The fun sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #488. I flipped the sketch on the side for my card.

Here's a list of the Copic markers I used for this card:

Hot Dogs ~ E08, E09, E11, Colorless Blender
Burgers ~ E08, E09, E11, E27
Charcoal ~ Y06, YR15, YR68, R05, N0, N1, N4, N6, N8
Grill ~ E55, E57, N1, N4, N8

Well, that's it for me this time. Be sure to hop along with the rest of the Friends of Unity for even more Masculine card inspiration! And I'm sure some of my friends are having giveaways so be sure to comment on each of our blogs as you hop along!

Let's get to the hopping...
