I was an elementary school teacher for many years. During Christmas time for Social Studies we studied Christmas traditions around the world. This was my absolute favorite time of the year with my students. So, for our Christmas Around the World card kit I have chosen my most favorite countries we studied to feature.
Mexico: Great food and wonderful traditions centered around Papa Noel.
Sweden: St. Lucia was my favorite tradition in Sweden we studied.
Australia: My students got the biggest kick out of the fact that it was hot and summer there during Christmas.
Germany: Of course what would a study be without studying the origin of the Christmas tree.
Please sit back and enjoy the elements we put together for our Christmas Around the World Flavor of the Month Card Kit. Make sure you leave our designers some love on their blog and hop back to the SFL blog to enter the Rafflecopter. You can purchase the kit on Scrapping for Less on the Subscription page. ~ Teresa, SFL Co-Owner

Here's a quick look at the October 2019 Christmas Around the World card kit...
I just adore all the fun Christmas elements in this month's kit! Teresa has done another amazing job with the papers and stamps this month!! Love them all!! I had such a blast... I made four cards, plus a gift card holder AND an ornament!! Let's check them out!!
Collection One: Holiday Flowers
I love this sweet image and it was so much fun to color! I used the Paper Play Sketch #07 from the October 2019 FOTM Sketch Sheet for my design. I just love the gorgeous paper with the poinsettias... I had to use them for my card. I did veer from the sketch a tad by adding the ribbon but I think it adds to the overall design of the card.
Supplies used (not found in the kit):
Copics: Hair ~ C00, C1; Skin ~ E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R81; Clothes ~ R000, R14, R27, Y000, Y06, Y15, G24, G46, E55, E57, N0, N1, N3, N5, N7; Stick/Bow ~ E55, E57, E59, Y000, Y06, Y15; Pinata Star ~ G24, G46, R000, R14, R27
Memento Tuxedo black ink
Collection Two: Australian Christmas
This is such a fun collection... I love the nautical touch with the anchors and all the pretty Christmas colors! I used the Mojo Monday #187 sketch for this one, only I changed out the bow and tag for the sentiment on the banner. Santa was so fun to color, along with the scene. I did mask Santa and stamp the palm trees using Cucumber Crush and Close to Cocoa markers to ink the stamp. Santa's surf board was stamped on a scrap, colored and then fussy cut.

Memento Tuxedo black ink
Collection Three: Nordic Winter
I was completely honored and touched when Teresa and Kim asked me to illustrate the little girl in the Saint Lucia costume. My first ever physical stamp and it's in the kits that I love so much!! A huge thank you to both of you ladies!!
There's a lot of little details in this beautiful stamp and I wanted to share a tip while inking this up. I tried a few different inks and I was most successful using VersaFine Onyx Black ink with my Stamp Platform and a light touch. What I mean by a light touch, is not actually pushing down on the platform, but rubbing the palm of your hand over it instead. I was also able to get a nice crisp image with my Memento tuxedo black ink, again with the Stamp Platform and a light touch. I think with the detailed images, a light touch in stamping is the key. And it really helps to use a Stamp Platform, Misti, or any of the other ones out there... a true game changer!
Back to the card... it had been a long time since I've colored with the Prismacolor Pencils so I pulled those out and got to coloring. Since the costume is mostly white, I only added a little black pencil that I blended out with the white pencil... giving me a little gray shadow. A light red for the sash so it coordinated with the poinsettias in the paper. I love learning new words... even if they're in another language so I just had to stamp two of the sentiments from the collection. God Jul means Merry Christmas in English... I went with the Happy Holidays because it was smaller and fit with my design. Oh, and I love this sketch... it's the Sweet Sunday #61 sketch... such a classic sketch!!
Supplies used (not found in the kit):
VersaFine Onyx Black ink
Prismacolor Pencils
Prismacolor Colorless Blender
Collection Four: A Warm and Cozy Christmas
I love this gorgeous tree!! I used this tree for my sneak peek, you can check that out ---> here! I wanted a pretty green tree this time so I inked up the tree with a few different green ink cubes. I like the dimension the different greens give to the tree. I also used ink cubes to color the star and the trunk/ground... I like to use this technique with my Stamp Platform, wiping the stamp clean in between colors. I also used my old Stampin' Up! Blender pen to help blend some of the colors. I made the ornaments on the tree by just coloring circles with a red marker and I went over those with the Diamond Stickles, included in the Banana Split Subscription (the stickles are random colors in the kit). I again used the fun sentiment in the collection... this one is Merry Christmas in German. So fun!
Supplies used (not found in the kit):
Gina K. Designs ink cubes ~ Applemint, Jelly Bean Green, Grass Green,
Dark Chocolate, Wild Dandelion
Memento Tuxedo black ink
SU! Real Red marker
So something that's super fun and included in this month's kit is a little foil mate and some foil by Gina K. Designs and Thermoweb!! I have not actually taken the plunge into the whole foiling trend... so this was a fun little nudge to get me to try it and I love it!! And it was so easy!
I placed the little tag with the foil on top (gold facing up) in the parchment paper included and ran it through my laminator... BAM! It was like magic! I burnished it with my bone folder while still in the parchment paper to make sure it was good and stuck. It was beautiful and flawless... and then I scratched it but it's still beautiful!! I decided I had to make a gift card holder.
I used some of the pretty papers in Collection Four called A Warm and Cozy Christmas, along with the Nightshift Navy card stock included in the kit. A little extra ribbon and twine from my stash and now I have a gift already to go for Christmas! I'll probably try to find a gift card with colors that coordinate a bit better, but I love how this turned out!
Supplies used (not found in the kit):
Papertrey Ink Folded Pocket Tag die
SU! Gold Wide Organdy ribbon
Papertrey Ink jute twine
This sweet ornament is made with only products from the kit (aside from the adhesive) and it was so much fun and easy!! I used the pretty little chipboard pieces by Ruby Rock It, included in Collection Four. I adhered them to the little Wood Slice Ornament that's included in the Banana Split Subscription.
I added a little Multi Medium Matte around the edges of the wood slice and dusted it with the Sugar Dust from Collection Three. Not all of the kits will receive Sugar Dust, some will get White Sequins, so if you don't receive the Sugar Dust I'd suggest using some white flower soft or just glitter. I also added it to the center of the chipboard pieces.
I couldn't just leave the back plain... so I die cut a circle of the gorgeous Holiday Flowers paper from Collection One. I punched a hole through the paper and then adhered it to the wood slice. Such a cute little ornament! I love it!
