~ Friends of Unity July 2024 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! I've been so excited for this month's cue but time has not been on my side. It's been a very busy summer! I wish time would just slow down for a minute so we could enjoy it. It just seems to zip on by! Anywho, before we get to the cue and my cards, I wanted to welcome two super sweet new friends to our hop... Jenni Shamblin and Kari Buss are joining us on the Friends of Unity team! I am so excited to have these talented ladies join us! I hope you'll drop by their blogs and give them a super warm welcome! Now, onto our cue this month...

This month's cue is Technique!! Woohoo!! Since my time was limited I didn't jump into a new technique as I had hoped to. BUT I did try something a little new with one of my favorite crafty supplies... Distress Crayons from Tim Holtz and Ranger.

First up is a fun rainbow card!! I love making rainbows! They are so pretty! I used the sunray from the 3-in-1 Stencil from Unity as a guide for my coloring. I used a whole bunch of Distress Crayons: Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, Shaded Lilac, and Seedless Preserves.

You can check out the video for this fun technique here... Distress Crayon Technique | Rainbow Sunray Background.

This adorable stamp is called Born to Be Loved. As I've mentioned many times before, my daughter loves bunnies so I have a lot of bunny stamps. I like to use them when I make cards for her. I made this one for her just to let her know we love her very much.

I used a rectangle die from the BIG Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies} to die cut the bunny and sentiment. Trimmed up the rainbow background to 4 x 5-1/4" and adhered it to a white A2 top fold card base. I added foam tape to the back of the bunny rectangle and popped it up on the card.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up the bunny:
Bunny: C00, C1, C3, R00, R20, Colorless Blender
Bow / Dress: RV10, RV13, RV14
Daisy: C00, C1, C3, Y11, Y15, Y35
Grass / Stem: YG11, YG23
Outline: B0000, B000

Next up, a sweet encouragement card for a friend. Another fun technique using a Brushed Pewter Distress Crayon with the Vintage Script Embossing Folder. I love the font on this one. Unfortunately, I believe this one is retired but you could use any script embossing folder.

This beautiful stamp is called Being Yourself. Isn't she lovely!? I paired her up with a Cut Apart Sentiment Strip {I don't see the same ones on the website but here's another one} and die cut her using a die from the Dashes & Frills Hearts {die set}. I also die cut a piece of vellum card stock. I adhered her to the vellum and then just added glue behind her to adhere the vellum heart to the card.

I trimmed the embossed panel of True Black card stock from Papertrey Ink to 4 x 5-1/4" and adhered it to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" card front of Brushed Silver card stock from Stampin' Up. And then I adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up this beauty:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E04
Hair: E70, E71, E74
Shirt: RV10, RV13, RV14
Roses: Y11, Y15, RV10, RV13
Leaves / Stems: YG11, YG23, G24

I don't know about you, but I've about had enough of this hot summer weather! LOL! Is it too early to dream of Fall weather?! I don't think so! I used a pretty embossing folder from Love Nicole called Cable Knit. This time I used Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo Distress Crayons.

You can check out the video for this fun technique here... Distress Crayon Technique | Add Color to Embossed Backgrounds.

This gorgeous stamp is from the September 2019 Kit of the Month called All Kinds of Holiday Love. She is an absolute favorite of mine! Once I saw the cable knit embossing folder in my stash I knew I had to ink this beauty up!

I die cut the girl using a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. Trimmed the cable knit panel to 4 x 5-1/4" and adhered it to a kraft A2 top fold card base. I cut an edge off the circle and adhered the heat embossed sentiment to the circle. Added foam tape to the back of both pieces and then popped them up on the card.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up this Fall beauty:
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E70, E71, E74, E77
Cowl: Y11, Y15, Y35, YR000, YR21, YR15, YR16, E53, E55, E57

Over the Rainbow Background with Anna Girl ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
I got inky again with some fun stamps that haven't seen ink! Love when I can do that! I played with the Over the Rainbow background stamp and Anna Girl for a fun rainbow filled love card.

I recorded most of my card making process for this one. I did forget to hit record when I stamped the background stamp on the ink smooshed background. Ooopsie! Anywho, the ink smooshed background was created with Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks. I stamped the Over the Rainbow background over the dried ink smooshed background with Black Amalgam ink. And then I die cut the ink smooshed background with the largest stitched die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}.

Anna Girl and the sentiment were also stamped with Black Amalgam ink. I did a mix of paper piecing and copic coloring for Anna Girl. The bottom portion of her dress is paper pieced and adhered using the Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. Such a fun way to mix things up! I fussy cut Anna Girl leaving a skinny white border around her.

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used:

Skin: E000, E00, E11, E04
Hair: Y21, YR27, E25
Top of Dress: V000, V12, B91, B93
Jeans: B91, B93, B95, B97
Shoes: E21, E25
Hearts: R00, R20, R14, R46

I adhered the rainbow background to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" card front of True Black card stock from Papertrey Ink that I adhered to an A2 top fold card base of Stampers Select White card stock also from Papertrey Ink. I adhered the trimmed sentiment to the bottom of the card and adhered Anna Girl grounding her with the sentiment. And then I finished off the card with a few black enamel dots from the Travelers Notebook Enamel Dots from Echo Park Paper Co.

You can check out my process for this card {or atleast most of it} here... Spread Love | Over the Rainbow Background with Anna Girl | Unity Stamp Co.

That's it for me today! I hope you've found some inspiration for this wonderful combination of stamps. Have an ink-tastic day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky hugs,
Crystal

Inky Paws Challenge #199 ~ Rainbow Theme Challenge Reminder

  Hello there crafty friend!
There's still time to play along with the Inky Paws Challenge #199 - a fun Rainbow Theme challenge! You have until this coming Friday, June 9th to get your entries in for the Rainbow Theme challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

I am enjoying the awesome entries being shared so far for the Rainbow theme challenge. I just love rainbow cards! I had a fun idea for pretty paper layers for my second card.

The Birthday Party 6x6 Paper Pad has a rainbow theme in the papers just minus one color - violet (and technically indigo, but I often skip that one). I thought it would be fun to play with a mix of the pattern papers and some card stock to balance out the colors. I die cut my pattern paper layers using the Frames & Flags Die Set. I then adhered my layers to a Real Red card front from Stampin' Up measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". The yellow mat under the green present pattern paper measures 3-3/8 x 4-5/8". And then my purple paper layer is Winter Wisteria card stock from Papertrey Ink and it's die cut with the 2-1/2" decorative square die from the Frames Squared Die Set.

I stamped the sweet kitty from Newton's Birthday Balloons Stamp Set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored it up with my copic markers and then I fussy cut it leaving a bit of a border. The Newton's Birthday Balloons Die Set would have been really handy but I don't have that yet. It's on my wishlist!
Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up the sweet kitty:

Kitty ~ C00, C1, C3, R00, R20, Colorless Blender
Present / Balloons ~ V0000, V000, V12, V15, Colorless Blender

All of my paper layers are just adhered directly to each other except the sentiment and Newton... those two are popped up with foam tape. I really had fun with this rainbow card! There's still time to play along with the challenge... I sure hope you can find some time to play!

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project with a Rainbow theme. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Inky Paws Challenge #199 ~ Rainbow Theme Challenge

  Hello there crafty friend!
It's time to get our paws inky with a super fun rainbow themed challenge! It's so fun to play with rainbow colors! You have until Friday, June 9th to get your entries in for the #199 Rainbow Theme Challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

I love love love rainbow colors!! It's a wonderful color combo to play with and I couldn't wait to get inky for this challenge!

This is a pretty simple card and it's a big one! It measures 10 x 7"; scored at 5" for an A7 card. I blended my clouds over the Clouds Stencil from Newton's Nook Designs onto a large piece of white card stock using Distress Oxide inks. I used Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks. I got a little heavy handy as I worked my way up the card but I love the dimension that it gives the clouds!

I die cut my large panel using the stitched scallop die from the A7 Frames & Banners Die Set. I was going to adhere my panel to a purple card front but decided to just go with the white background of the A7 card base.

I stamped the adorable kitty from the Newton's Umbrella Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it up with the following Copic markers:

Kitty ~ C00, C1, N0, N2, N4, N8, YR15, RV10, RV21, Colorless Blender
Umbrella ~ V000, V12, V15, C00, C1, C3, N0, N2, N4, N8, Colorless Blender

I die cut the kitty using the coordinating Newton's Umbrella Die Set. I stamped the sentiment using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut with a stitched circle die from the Circle Frames die set. I adhered the kitty directly to the card using liquid glue. To add a bit more dimension on the card, I used foam tape to pop up the sentiment.

You can check out my process video for this card here... You Lift Me Up Rainbow Clouds | Inky Paws Challenge 199 | Newton's Nook Designs.
