~ Friends of Unity October 2024 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! And I am so excited for this month's cue! It's a fun one...

This month's cue is CASEd It! Such a fun idea for a blog hop and I can't wait to see what our friends made this month!

First up is an adorable kitty card featuring the sweet kitty from A Little Not Fine that just released yesterday for World Card Making Day. Don't ya just want to pick that kitty up and give it a cuddle?! So adorbs!

You may recognize my card design from this awesome card by Gaylynn Martling for the October release. I absolutely adore Gaylynn's card and just had to give it a try with my own spin.

I paired up the adorable kitty with the gorgeous Gosh, I Love You {paper pack}. I die cut the kitty and the sentiment using the dies from Grunge Cuts {tag dies} and Distress Tickets {ticket dies}.

I punched a hole through both of the tags using a handheld punch from my stash and then I tied a pretty bow of {Ivory} Burlap string from May Arts. All my papers are adhered directly to the white A2 top fold card base that I turned on the side for a landscape card, except for the kitty and sentiment that I popped up with foam tape.

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used to color up the kitty:
Kitty: N0, N2, N4, N6, Colorless Blender
Nose / Ears: R00, R20
Eyes: YG11, YG63, YG45
Ground: E51, E55

Next up is a fun card featuring the cow from Someone Left the Gate Open. So excited to finally ink this cute cow up!

This time I CASEd these fun cards by Beth Artz! Beth shares her creations often in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group. Love her creations! This is such a versatile card design... I had to give it a go!

I paired the cows up with the awesome Rustic Cowhide {paper pack}. So fun! The cows are both die cut using a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}.

The fun burlap ribbon has been in my stash forever. I'm pretty sure it's from Stampin' Up. Because it's so thick I popped up the cowhide papers using a thick foam tape. And then the cow circles are popped up on either side of the burlap ribbon using a thinner foam tape. Lots of dimension for these cards!

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used to color up the cows:
Eyes / Teeth: C00, C2
Horns: E51
Face / Neck: N0, N2, N4, Colorless Blender
Nose: R00, R20, N0, N2, N4, E51

Last up is a pretty holiday card featuring the super sweet Simple Little Wishes that also just released for World Card Making Day. I love this Charlie Brown tree!! So cute!

Some of you may recognize this awesome technique that Jenni Shamblin shared a few months ago for the Christmas in July 2024 {BYSHC} Linky Party. I fell in love with the design but didn't play with it until now and OH BOY am I hooked!! It was so much fun!

You may also recognize the papers from the card I shared on Thursday. This card design is perfect for those scraps and since I was playing with leftover paper scraps, it just made sense to use them again! I do recommend to use copy paper for this technique. It took several runs through my Big Shot with the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies} to get that background layer cut all the way through.

The adorable tree is die cut using a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. The sentiment and tree circle are popped up with foam tape. And then I finished off the card with a few shiny pieces of confetti from the Crystal Metallic Quicksilver Card Bling set from A Colorful Life Designs.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...

Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 25 ~ Speedy ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new sketch challenge! Today I'm sharing my first card for the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 25 in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group.  I pulled out this adorable stamp the other day but didn't get around to using it so I thought it would be fun for this new sketch.

I didn't pick a pack of papers {say that 3 times fast!} yet to finish up. Still hoping to find a Fall themed paper pack. So I went looking through my Unity papers for papers that would go well with this little cutie. And, of course, the By The Sea {paper pack} is just perfect!

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 25. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it.

I stamped the adorable Speedy turtle using Black Amalgam ink from Gina K. Designs. I also stamped the sentiment using the same ink except that I masked the heart. After stamping the sentiment a few times in my Stamp Platform, I stamped the little heart. For this I used the Pink Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker. I colored up the turtle using my Copic markers. Fussy cut him on the line and then cleaned up the fussy cutting by coloring the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Turtle: BG000, BG10, BG70, BG72
Shell: BG70, BG72, BG75
Hearts: R81, R83, R85

I die cut a circle of white card stock using a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. All my layers are adhered directly to a white A2 top fold card base turned on its side for a landscape card. I added a scrap of paper under the top of the sentiment so it would lay flat. I added foam tape to the back of the turtle and popped him up on the circle. And then I finished off the card with three pink enamel dots from my stash. Still trying to make a dent in my enamel dots stash. Yikes! Do I have a lot!!

I hope you all have fun with this sketch! I can't wait to see what you create with it.
Have an ink-tastic week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal

Inky Paws Challenge #221 ~ Color Challenge

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new Inky Paws Challenge... a beautiful Color Challenge
I sure hope that you'll join in the fun and play along with us with your Newton's Nook Designs products! You have until Friday, April 26th to get your entries in for the #221 Color Challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

Lovely Spring colors... Dusty Blue, Moss Green, Golden Yellow, and White!! So soft and pretty!

I started by die cutting a few larger scrap pieces of Stamper's Select White card stock from Papertrey Ink using the Sky Borders Die Set. I also die cut a few single clouds using a couple cloud dies from the Sky Scene Builder Die Set. And I just had to add a sun peeking through the clouds so I die cut the sun from Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight card stock from Stampin' Up using the sun die from the Sky Scene Builder Die Set. I tucked the other sun back in with my dies... now I have a sun ready to go for next time I use these dies.

I paired up the adorable Newton's Umbrella Stamp Set with the super cute A Cat's Life 6x6 Paper Pad. These papers had just the right colors for my scene and for the color challenge! I trimmed the striped blue paper down to 4 x 5-1/4". I die cut the green polka dot paper using the grass die from the Land Borders Die Set. I die cut the same piece a couple of times so that I could make a nice layer of grass for my scene.

I stamped the sweet kitty and the sentiment from the Newton's Umbrella Stamp Set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored up the kitty with my Copic markers. I die cut the kitty using the coordinating Newton's Umbrella Die Set. I also trimmed up the sentiment and adhered it directly to the card. I adhered all of my layers to the striped blue pattern paper and then trimmed off the excess from the edges. I added foam tape behind the kitty and popped him up on the card.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:

Kitty: R00, R20, C00, C1, C3, 0
Umbrella: Y11, Y15, Y35, YG11, YG03, C3

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project using the color combo of Dusty Blue, Moss Green, Golden Yellow, and White. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Crystal

Get Well Soon ~ Unity Sketch Challenge ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I was so busy with the Advent Calendar posts the last few weeks that I forgot to share my cards for Unity's last new release and sale of 2021. Today, I'm sharing a get well soon card that I made using the December Sketch and the newly released Quiet That Voice kit.

This new Angie Girl spoke to my soul... so many have struggled over the last two years, but even before the madness and uncertainty the pandemic has brought I know that some have struggled for even longer. The sentiments in this kit are amazing and one in particular is special to me as it's my very own quote ~ "Embrace your strengths and talents and quiet that voice in your head that says you can't, because you can!" I'm so honored to have it in red rubber!!

The background is a card front of Bermuda Bay card stock from Stampin' Up that I stamped with the A Faithful Letter background stamp with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink. I wanted a distressed look so I didn't cover the stamp completely with ink ~ just inked up spots here and there. The Rustic Floral papers from Brutus Monroe measure 3-1/2 x 4-3/4". I pulled my color palette for coloring from these beautiful papers.

I stamped the sentiment and new Angie Girl with Gina K. Black Amalgam ink and colored her with the following Copic markers:

Skin / Lips ~ E000, E00, E11; R20, RV32
Hair ~ E43, E44, E47
Nails / Necklace ~ YR05, YR15; R08, R17
Shirt ~ BG13, BG70, BG72
Blanket ~ YR09, YR15, YR20
Background ~ YR15, YR21

I fussy cut around the image leaving a border and then trimmed around the sentiment to fit the pattern paper. The card was finished with a few enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs. A sweet card to send to a friend who is ill or just not feeling well.

If you haven't already, check out the December Sketch challenge over in the Unity Show & Tell group. There's only a few more days to play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal
