Pet Sympathy Card on Kraft ~ Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bundle ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
I'm back with another card featuring goodies from the awesome Brown Thursday Sale over at Unity!!! What's Brown Thursday, you ask? Well, it's Unity's version of Black Friday and it's filled with a HUGE new release and a fabulous sale! Today I'm sharing another pet sympathy card.

Not one bit of coloring for this card! Just some fun ink blending with my oxide inks. I used Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks for the rainbow along with the fabulous Somewhere Over the Rainbow Stencil. I absolutely love how the rows of the rainbow alternate on the stencil... so smart for blending over!!

I die cut the rainbow panel with the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies. I blended a little bit of Lost Shadow Distress Oxide ink around the clouds on the Somewhere Over the Rainbow Stencil. I fussy cut them leaving a little bit of a white border around the edges. I stamped the cute pup silhouette from the Somewhere Over the Rainbow stamps with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink and fussy cut him as well. The clouds and pup are adhered together and then popped up with foam tape.

You can check out my process video for this card here... Pet Sympathy Card on Kraft | Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bundle | Unity Stamp Co.

The sentiment is heat embossed with white pigment ink, white embossing powder and melted with a heat tool. Head over to Unity and check out all the awesome releases! It's a HUGE release friends! And it's the BIGGEST SALE of the year!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky hugs,
Crystal

Paw Print Sympathy Card ~ Somewhere Over the Rainbow Stencil ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
The awesome Brown Thursday Sale over at Unity Stamp Co. is here!!! What's Brown Thursday, you ask? Well, it's Unity's version of Black Friday and it's filled with a HUGE new release and a fabulous sale! Today I'm sharing a sweet pet sympathy card that was quick to make featuring the sweet Somewhere Over the Rainbow Stencil!

The paw prints are heat embossed with Wow! Clear Embossing Ink, a Catherine Pooler Designs Detail Blending Brush, Hero Arts Fine Clear Embossing Powder and melted with a Wagner Precision Heat Tool. The sentiment from the Somewhere Over the Rainbow stamps was also heat embossed but with a combo of Taylored Expressions Sugar Cube Pigment Ink, Brutus Monroe Alabaster White Embossing Powder and the same heat tool. I also used the TE Anti-Static Powder Tool to prep the card stock before I heat embossed.

I blended Kitsch Flamingo and Peacock Feather Distress Inks over the embossed paw prints. And I did a bit of water spatters to cover up the messy embossed spots around a couple of the paws. I embossed the sentiment after blending the inks. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the sentiment... poor planning, I guess. LOL

You can check out my process video for this card here... Paw Print Sympathy Card | Somewhere Over the Rainbow Stencil | Unity Stamp Co.

I die cut the panel using the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies. This was such a quick card to make! I love how it turned out. I hope you have an inktastic day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Distress Crayons on Kraft ~ Serene Silhouettes ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a quick card for Unity's July release featuring the lovely Serene Silhouettes. I couldn't help but play with a few more Distress Crayons. But this time I thought I'd use them on Kraft card stock. I love the colors of the Distress Crayons on the Kraft... so awesome!

I used a couple strips of purple tape across my Kraft Card Stock panel to mask the area I wanted to color with the Distress Crayons. I then colored the space in between the tape using the Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Crayons. I used a baby wipe to blend out the crayons.

I stamped the pretty trees from Serene Silhouettes with Black Amalgam ink from Gina K. Designs. Once I was happy with my pretty trees, I die cut the panel using the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Die Set. I adhered my panel to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of True Black Card Stock from Papertrey Ink and then adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base of Stampers Select Card Stock, also from Papertrey Ink.

I stamped the sentiment on the card but I messed it up so I stamped it again on a scrap of Kraft Card Stock and then mat it with a piece of black card stock. I then adhered it to the card. A great stamp for sympathy cards. Have an ink-redible day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Crystal

Simple Sympathy Card with Sepia Coloring on Kraft ~ Compassionate Daisies ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a card that us cardmakers don't necessarily like to make but sadly they are necessary. So I thought the beautiful new Compassionate Daisies stamp from Unity's new release would be perfect for a very simple and quick sepia colored sympathy card.

I kept the layers very simple with a 4-1/8 x 5-1/8" piece of Kraft card stock with the beautiful daisies and sentiment from the Compassionate Daisies stamped in an alcohol ink friendly ink.

For my sepia coloring I just used four Copic markers ~ E50, E53, E55, and E59.

I adhered the daisies panel to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/4" piece of True Black card stock from Papertrey Ink. I adhered the panel to a 4-1/4 x 11" Kraft card base; scored at 5-1/2". I left a bit of Kraft peeking out of the top and bottom of the base.

Well that's it for me today! Do yourself a favor and go check out all the fab new releases at Unity for the second round of the Birthday Sale!! I'll be back tomorrow with my weekly Christmas card!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal

~ Friends of Unity August 2020 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's the first Saturday of the month and you know what that means... it's time for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! I look forward to these hops so much each month. I hope you do too!

Our cue this month is Sympathy... a tough card to make at times. Definitely a card that we can't always be prepared for. With this in mind, I created 3 quick cards to share with you all.

My first card uses a cute Itty Bitty stamp called Floral Scroll that pairs up really nicely with just about any patterned paper to make a quick card. I cut my patterned paper to 4 x 5-1/4" and layered it on a piece of card stock measuring 3-15/16 x 5-3/16". I then wrapped some twine around the panel and adhered it to a white card base.

I set the card base aside and found an ink that would coordinate with the color in the paper... I settled on Crumb Cake. I stamped the floral scroll image and then stamped the sentiment. I die cut the stamped image with a circle die and then popped it up on the card. A very quick card that could be made with any patterned paper in your stash.

My second card is very CAS... Clean and Simple... I did a little watercolor washing in the center of a 4-1/8 x 5-3/8" piece of watercolor paper with Milled Lavender Distress Oxide ink. I heat set the background with my heat tool and then stamped the pretty flowers from the July 2020 Sentiment kit called Aging Gorgeously with VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

I set that panel aside and grabbed a strip of Vellum card stock. I stamped the With Sympathy sentiment from the September 2017 Sentiment kit called Abundant Blessings with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then heat embossed some fine black embossing powder being careful not to warp the Vellum card stock. I adhered the sentiment to the watercolored panel with PLUS vellum tape and then wrapped it around the back and secured it with Tombow Mono Permanent Adhesive. I then adhered the panel to a white card base. I really like how this one turned out and the background color could easily be changed up to suit the recipient.

My last card is actually a CASE... Copy And Share Everything... of a card that I made last year. You can check that one out here... Don't Give Up Sympathy card. I kept the Kraft and black combo, but decided to do a slimline card. I used my new Gina Marie Designs slimline dies to die cut my panels.

I stamped the beautiful floral from the Abundant Blessings sentiment kit with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and splattered some black acrylic paint on the panel. I set that aside to dry and stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Kraft card stock. I mat it with some True Black card stock. All that was left was adhering my layers onto my Kraft slimline card base measuring 3-1/2 x 8-1/2". Another quick card!

Here's another look at all three of my cards together. I was able to make all of these in an afternoon... I hope these ideas are a help for when you are struggling to make that difficult sympathy card.

Now... it's time to announce the winner from my giveaway last month and the winner is...

Unity Stamp Company ~ Graciellie Designs ~ My Sympathies

Hello crafty friends!
Today I have a couple of cards to share... the kind of cards that are necessary sometimes to make, but not as fun because of the reason for the card. I found myself in need of a couple of sympathy cards so I checked out my favorite sketch challenge blogs and found this one...

from Freshly Made Sketches #389 ...perfect for a simple sympathy card!

I pulled out the My Sympathies sentiment kit by Graciellie Designs from Unity Stamp Company and went simple with a little watercoloring and the sentiment embossed on vellum over top... subtle and soft with an offset edged layer.

Here's a close-up of the embossed sentiment.

For my second card, I went with kraft and black... I used Unity Stamp Company's Don't Give Up sentiment kit along with the same sentiment from the first card. A simple and quick card that literally took me... maybe 5 minutes.

If you ever find yourself stuck designing a card, be sure to check out the sketch challenges... Freshly Made Sketches is one of my favorites!

Thanks for checking out my blog post!
See ya next time.
