Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 35 ~ Spore the Love ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing some inspiration for the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 35 in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group. I inked up the super cute 'shroom from the Spore the Love stamps from Unity. It's also available in the July 2025 KOM called Feelin' Fall the Things.

As been my habit of late, I started with the background for this card. I just received the Spore the Love Coordinating {paper pack} in an order and I couldn't wait to use them! Since it's a new paper pack I didn't use scraps... but now that I've cut into these papers, I do have some scraps. Haha!

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 35. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it. I used the measurements on the sketch for my card today.

Since I cut into the Spore the Love Coordinating {paper pack} it was only natural that I ink up the adorable 'shroom from the Spore the Love stamps! I LOVE this cutie!! I stamped the mushroom with Black Amalgam ink and colored it up with Copic markers. I fussy cut the 'shroom leaving a white border and popped it up on the card with foam tape.

Here's a list of the Copic Markers I used:
'Shroom: W0, W2, W3, YR14, E17
Flowers: Y11, Y15, YR20, YR23, YR15
Greenery: BG10, BG72

I stamped the sentiment, trimmed it and popped it up on the card with foam tape. And then I finished off the card with a few enamel dots from my stash. I'm having so much fun with this sketch! I hope you can find time to play along. Have an ink-tastic week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Be As Kind To Yourself ~ Sparkle & Shine Fairy ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
Have you seen the new release over at Unity?! So many amazing stamps and goodies!! I fell in love with the Sparkle & Shine Fairy stamps. She's absolutely gorgeous!!

I just had to ink her up and color her with my Copic markers.

Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, R00, R20
Hair: E21, E23, E25
Crown: V12, V15, Y11, Y15, YG11, G94
Wings: V000, V12, V15, BG10, BG01, BG13
Dress: BG000, BG10, BG01, BG13
Mushroom: C0, C2, W00, W1, R00, R20, R14, R27
Stems / Leaves / Grass: YG11, G94
Wildflowers: V12, V15, Y11, Y15

I die cut the beautiful fairy using a die from the Scallops & Banners {nesting dies} and then I got stuck. I set her aside and started looking through my stash of scraps. I found a fun background that I had made awhile ago but the colors weren't right so I redid it with colors that complimented the fairy.

I stamped the Rustic Flutter background using Evergreen Bough and Wilted Violet Distress Inks. And then I stamped over the background with the Worn Grid background using Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I just noticed that Worn Grid is no longer available at Unity. I really need to go through my stamps and mark the retired stamps. Anywho, a wonderful alternative is the Tattered Grid Background

I die cut the background using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. I adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base and then die cut the top of the banner using the same rectangle die. I then added a few raindrop embellies. Trimmed up the sentiment and popped it up with foam tape. I just love how this turned out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky hugs,
Crystal

Really Fungi Bookmark ~ Fabulous Fungus ~ Newton's Nook Designs

Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a quick bookmark I've created for my son. I used a cute mushroom from the Fabulous Fungus Stamp Set from Newton's Nook Designs plus papers and a fun bookmark die.

I die cut a bookmark from Kraft card stock and a scrap of pattern paper from the Pastel Basics 6x6 Paper Pad using the Bookmark Die Set.

I stamped the mushrooms on the bookmark using a clear watermark ink. I also stamped the mushrooms on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added dots to the mushrooms using a white gel pen.

Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:
Mushrooms: W00, W1, W3, W5

I die cut the mushrooms using a small stitched circle die from the Circle Frames Die Set. The sentiment is die cut using a die from the Basic Frames Die Set.

You can check out my process video here... Really Fungi Bookmark | Fabulous Fungus | Newton's Nook Designs.

Since this is for my son, I chose to go with a simple twill tape and braided linen trim to finish off the bookmark. A sweet and simple bookmark. I really like how it turned out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky hugs,
Crystal

~ Friends of Unity January 2025 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! This month's cue is really fun! But before we get to that we have a new friend joining us... please stop by Doreen Guilfoyle's blog and be sure to give her a great big welcome! I am super excited to have Doreen join our team! Woohoo!!

This month's cue is Use Old Stuff from Your Stash! I have to admit that after 26 years of cardmaking I have quite the stash. Sometimes I wish I could go back to simpler days when my set up was just a tiny nook off of our kitchen.

I actually found a photo! Here's the left side of the nook.

And the right side of the nook. I had two desks and it was so easy to keep this space clean. Now I'm in a bedroom and it's unorganized and a disaster. Not complaining about my space, at all! I'm blessed beyond... but I sure wish it was finally organized and neat. I think this year my goal is to do just that. I'll try to keep you all updated as I go. Maybe I'll even do a blog post and/or video. That would help me be accountable for sure. We'll see! Anywho... I've gone way off track here. Back to your regular broadcasting... :)

I remember why I went off on that tangent. All the stuff I have!! I went looking through my paper. I have a lot of old Stampin' Up papers that I never touch anymore. I thought I'd pick out a paper and make a card. Somehow it turned into 5 cards! LOL!

I absolutely love butterflies so I was immediately drawn to the Botanical Butterfly DSP. I used both sides of the papers for these 3 cards. The butterfly papers are die cut using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. And then I got to looking through my SMAK and KOM kits. I saw this cute ticket in the November 2012 Kit of the Month called So Into You. I thought it would be fun to add a sentiment to it. Of course, then I had to go looking for a sentiment. I found the Happy stamps and boom! That was that. The sentiment was stamped with Wilted Violet Distress Ink. I colored the edges of the tickets and the hearts with Copic markers: R00, R20, R43.

Same story for these... once I got started I thought I'd make a couple more. So many fun butterfly papers in that pack. I used the same Wilted Violet Distress ink for the sentiments. I colored the edge and hearts of the tickets with V000, V12, V15 Copic markers. I didn't pop anything up or add any bling. Keeping them flat and light for easy mailing! These were easy peasy and fun.

Using old stuff for me also means those panels you started and set aside for a later time. Well, I got to looking through mine and found this fun panel I've made over time. I ink smooshed the background when I made a couple rainbow ink smooshing cards.

I found the video. If you watch the first few minutes, you can see I make the two panels for the birthday cards but I also make a third panel with the leftover ink. That third panel I used for my birthday snail card. So I used Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks for the ink smooshed background.

And then in September I was experimenting with Transfer Gel DUO and tried out some spatters on this panel before I made the card I shared on my blog and YouTube. I used some Transfer Gel DUO to spatter and then foiled with Silver Shattered Glass Deco Foil. I die cut the panel using the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies.

Here's the video of my other card if you're interested in seeing how I made the spatters. It's a SUPER fun and easy technique with awesome results!

This fun background needed a great stamp and I had been wanting to ink up the sweet snail and mushroom from the May 2017 Sentiment Kit Happy Snail Mail. Darn it! It's retired! Such a shame. Hopefully you have it in your stash. It has so many great sentiments and, of course, the adorable snail and mushroom. Anywho, I stamped it with Black Amalgam ink, Copic colored it and then fussy cut it on the line. I colored the edge of the fussy cutting to make it all nice and neat and then I stamped the sentiments. I trimmed them up and adhered the one to the mushroom and then I added a bunch of foam tape to the back of both sentiment and the mushroom/snail and popped them up on the black card base.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Snail: BV11, N2, N4, N6
Snail Shell: BV11, BV34, BV25, BV29, YR000, YR21, YR12
Mushroom: R00, R20, R14, R37, R59, C00, C2, W00, W1, W3
Grass: YG11, YG23, YG67

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is... {we had internet issues while I was picking and I wasn't able to save the random dot org number but it was #23}.

Unity Advent Calendar 2024 Day 12 ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
It's Day 12 of the 2024 Advent Calendar from Unity!! I have a 'just because' card for today's stamp.

How fun is this adorable mushroom stamp?! And that cute smile! Love it!

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Red: R20, R14, R27
White: C00, C1
Warm Gray: W0, W2, W4

You can check out my video revealing the Advent Calendar Day 12 stamp and my process in making this card here... Unity Advent Calendar 2024 Day 12 | Unity Stamp Co.

Inspiration for my card came from the {BYSHC} Sketch 28! Another fun sketch with some layers!

I die cut the mushroom using a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. It's popped up on the card with foam tape. I also die cut the paper layers using dies from the BIG Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}.

I paired up the mushroom with the Jubilant Tapestry {paper pack}. I think it's a fun pairing of stamp and papers.

I'll be back tomorrow for Day 13 of the 2024 Advent Calendar from Unity!
Have an inktastic day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Paws Challenge #219 ~ Sketch Challenge Reminder

 Hello there crafty friend!
There's still time to play along with the Inky Paws Challenge #219 - Sketch Challenge! You have until this coming Friday, March 29th to get your entries in for this fun challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

So bummed I was sick and wasn't able to play with this sketch the first week! I had a blast making a fun birthday card using the sketch.

I love the pretty colors in the Birthday Party 6x6 Paper Pad. They're so bright and really cover the entire rainbow of colors so I thought they would pair up perfectly with some red mushrooms using the Fabulous Fungus Stamp Set. I love the variety of mushrooms in this stamp set! The background plaid paper measures 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". The polka dot paper measures 4-1/4 x 2-1/2". The party hat paper measures 2 x 5". And the streamer paper measures 3-1/4 x 1".

I die cut the Copic colored mushrooms using a stitched circle die from the Circle Frames Die Set. I also die cut a piece of Real Red card stock from Stampin' Up using the next largest circle die from the set.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:

Mushrooms: R20, R14, R46, W00, W1, W3
Grass: YG11, YG23
Sky: B0000, B000

I stamped the mushrooms and the sentiment using my go-to black ink for clear photopolymer stamps... Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I trimmed the sentiment and adhered it to the circles and then I added a bunch of foam tape to the back of both and popped them up on the card.

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project using the sketch. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

~ Friends of Unity March 2024 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! Anyone else amazed that it's March?! Say what?! Where is the time going? If we could just slow down this ride, I sure would appreciate it! Anywho... this month's hop is fun and the cue is open to interpretation so I'm excited to see all the ideas from our friends.

Found in Nature is our cue this month! I had fun with a couple of ideas for this month's hop.

First up is the beautiful 'shrooms in the brand new Kit of the Month called Love & Good Vibes. I was curious if there were purple mushrooms so I did a google search and there are! They're called Amethyst Deceiver or laccaria amethystina. As they grow older, they fade in color and wither - hence the name deceiver. I tried to color them so the smaller ones were darker and the bigger ones were lighter. It was fun coloring them. I used V000, V12, V15, V17 for the mushrooms and B0000, B000, B00 for the background.

I die cut the mushroom panel using the cool new Scallops & Arches {nesting dies}. I also die cut a mat from Kraft card stock from Papertrey Ink using the largest die from the set. I added a couple strips of washi tape in similar colors. Anyone else have a TON of washi tape and never use it?! Or is that just me? LOL! Well... it felt good to actually use some.

I stapled over the washi tape using my mini stapler from Stampin' Up and then I adhered the panel to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" card front of True Black card stock from Papertrey Ink. I adhered the card front to a white A2 top fold card base turned on the side for a landscape card.

I felt the card needed something so I grabbed my Spectrum Noir glitter pen and painted over the tops of the 'shrooms several times. Lots and lots of glitter on these pretty mushrooms. You can really see it on the tall mushroom on the left. So sparkly and fun in person!

Next I wanted to play with the Background of the Month from January 2024 again. The Butterfly Breeze Meadow background stamp is amazing! And if you're not one to color, it's a great stamp to heat emboss. Which is what I did for these four cards.

I applied TE Anti Static powder from Taylored Expressions to the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" card front of Hawaiian Shores card stock. I stamped the background a couple of times with the help of my Stamp Platform using Sugar Cube Pigment ink from Taylored Expressions. I then added some Alabaster White Embossing powder from Brutus Monroe and melted the powder with a Wagner Precision Heat Tool.

I also heat embossed the sentiments from the Snarky Birthday Greetings. Same steps as above. For my second card I used Raspberry Fizz card stock from Papertrey Ink.

I die cut the floral heat embossed panels using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. And the sentiments are die cut using one of the dies from the Scalloped & Stitched Sentiment Nesting Die Set. For my third card I used Berry Sorbet card stock from Papertrey Ink.

I adhered my layers to A2 top fold card bases that matched the card fronts. For my final card I used Dark Indigo card stock from Papertrey Ink. Because I used colored card stock for my card bases, I also cut 4 x 5-1/4" panels from white card stock that I adhered inside my cards to write to the recipients of the cards. These were pretty easy cards... the heat embossing was the most time consuming for these.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...

... Sue D!! Congratulations, Sue!!

Inky Paws Challenge #196 ~ Birthday Theme Challenge

  Hello there crafty friend!
It's time to get our paws inky with a fun Birthday themed challenge! I have been slowly building my birthday stash of cards this year so I'm super excited for this theme. You have until Friday, April 28th to get your entries in for the #196 Birthday Theme Challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

I am a huge fan of pun stamps. I love to laugh and what's better than a punny birthday card?!

A very simple but punny birthday card featuring the awesome Fabulous Fungus stamp set. It was so hard to chose a sentiment but I finally decided on "Hope your day is so MUSH fun!".
Hee hee... love it!

My card design was inspired by Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 10. Love how easy my card came together with this sketch and the fabulous Birthday Party 6x6 paper pad!! Easy peasy!

I die cut the green paper and rainbow papers with dies from the Frames & Flags die set. The blue balloon paper measures 4-1/4 x 1-3/4". The sentiment strip measures 4-1/4 x 5/8". All my layers are adhered to a white A2 top fold card base measuring 4-1/4 x 11"; scored at 5-1/2".

I stamped the cute mushroom with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it up with the following Copic markers:

Mushroom Top ~ R20, R14, R27
Dots ~ C00, C1, C3
Mushroom Bottom / Stem ~ W00, W1, W3
Grass / Ground ~ YG11, G14

I die cut the mushroom with the circle die from the Frames Squared die set. And then I die cut a piece of Lemon Lime Twist card stock from Stampin' Up with the second smallest circle die from the Circle Frames die set. The perfect mat for my little mushroom layer! I adhered the layers together and then popped up the mushroom circle with a thin foam tape.

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project with a Birthday theme. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
