Polka Dot Orchard ~ Petals for the Pittman's ~ Merry Christmas

Hey there crafty friends!
I'm back with another wonderful Christmas card... I think I'm a little obsessed this year!! Lol... but I'm pretty happy with the stack of Christmas cards I have in my stash! I can't believe that I'm actually ahead *knock on wood*... I don't want to jinx my progress!!

Today's card is using one of the fabulous digi images available in the Petals For The Pittman's Set One. If you're not familiar with the fundraiser going on right now, I invite you to check out the Polka Dot Orchard blog... there's lots of information there, as well as the link to play along with the Linky Party!  Just create something with a floral theme and link up for your chance to win one of the many prizes that have been donated for this wonderful cause!
But hurry... time is running out!!

I have a serious love of poinsettias!! I particularly love the pink and white ones... they are so beautiful! I knew when I saw the poinsettia in the Petals For The Pittman's Set One, that I just had to make a card using this set!! It was such a fun flower to color too. I started by resizing and combining three of the poinsettias in a Word Document. I also inserted and resized the sentiment from the Magic of Christmas digi set. I printed off my images and got to coloring. I used the following Copic markers ~ R0000, R81, R85, YG03, YG11, YG63, Y13, Y15, and Y35.

I also added some Sakura clear gelly roll pen to the center of the flowers for a little bit of glittery goodness! I hope you can see some of the shine in this picture.

Once my flowers were all done, I decided not to just die cut them with a stitched rectangle die which was my original plan. I couldn't cut into all those pretty leaves that I just colored! So, instead I laid down my die and traced around it with a pencil and then I fussy cut it. Turns out it was a little too big! LOL So, I used a ruler and trimmed it down some more being sure to cut around the leaves. I was planning on leaving it to where my card base could be 4-3/4 x 6" but I don't actually have any 12 x 12 card stock left in my stash to make that size of a card. I probably could have pieced together a card but decided against it and just downsized my card to an A2 size with the leaves sticking out on the edges. I do have a few extra large envelopes so I can still make this work... just as a side note, this is one of those cards that I would hand deliver or send in a package with gifts. No plans to pay extra on postage for this one! I mat my focal piece with True Black card stock and then set it aside. I adhered a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of Plaid Patterns Merry & Bright patterned paper by My Favorite Things to a white card base. I then popped up my focal piece using foam tape. To finish off my card I added a few black enamel dots. Done and I am loving it!! I sure hope you like it too!

Thanks so much for checking out my blog post!
See ya next time.

Polka Dot Orchard ~ Petals for the Pittman's ~ Meant to Fly!

Hi there crafty friends!
I couldn't help but make another card using one of the fabulous digi images from the Petals For The Pittman's digi set.... this one is actually from the Mini Set that is available.
You can check it out here ---> Petals For The Pittman's Mini Set.

If you'd like to find out more about the Fundraiser, you can check out the main post on the Polka Dot Orchard Blog, as well as the link to play along with the Linky Party!  Just create something with a floral theme and link up for your chance to win! But hurry... time is running out!!

So, as I had mentioned above... my card today features the lovely image included in the Petals For The Pittman's Mini Set. And I paired it up with one of the sentiments also included in the set. I combined both images in a Word Document and printed them off.

I then colored the image with the following Copic markers:
Flower ~ YR09, YR15, YR31 (petals), Y000, Y15, Y17, Y35, E37, E97, YR27 (center),
YG11, G07, G24 (stem)
Butterfly ~ B0000, B000, BV02, V04

You may have noticed I used a lot of colors for the center of the flower... lol... I kept wanting to go darker around the edges so... it took a few tries. Just keeping it real! Anywho, once the image was colored I die cut it with a stitched rectangle die and then mat it with True Black card stock. I used some scrap papers from American Crafts Shimelle Collection and adhered them to a white card base. I wrapped a pretty white satin ribbon around the card and tied a bow. I then popped up the focal piece using foam tape and called this card Done! I just love the rainbow of colors on my card... wasn't planned that way, I assure you!

There's just a few more days to play along with the Linky Party over at Polka Dot Orchard!! Go check it out and play along if you can!

Thanks for checking out my blog post!
See ya next time.

Polka Dot Orchard ~ Petals for the Pittman's ~ Magical Day

Hello there crafty friends!
Today I am sharing a pretty card using a fun digi image from the Petals for the Pittman's Set Two. Have you had a chance yet to check out these amazing and huge digi sets?! They are only available for a short time so be sure to get yours while you can!! And they are for an amazing cause... if you aren't familiar with the fundraiser going on please check out this link ---> Petals For The Pittman's.

I just adore this fun sketched flower from the Petals For The Pittman's Set Two...
I love the sketch feel to the design and the mixed media feel with the text, splatter, and torn paper elements in the image.

To start I colored the image pretty simply with the following Copic markers ~ BV00, BV13, BV17, Y000, Y15, Y17, YG11, G24, and B000. I wanted a simple design to showcase this sweet image but also wanted to stick with the mixed media feel so I die cut the image with a rounded corner rectangle die but then I decided to use another die to make it look like it was a page from a notebook. I then decided to tear the bottom portion of the paper and to blend a little Vintage Photo distress ink around the edges.

I adhered a piece of patterned paper from the Simple Stories Travel Notes 6 x 8" paper pad to the bottom of the focal image and then set it aside. I grabbed another Simple Stories paper pad called Crafty Girl and found a cute background paper to use. I die cut it with a large rounded corner rectangle die and adhered it a True Black card base.

I applied some glue to the center of my card and looped around some metallic black thread making sure that the loops were large enough to stick out from behind my focal piece. I then popped up my focal piece and added a few enamel dots in white and black to finish it off.

That's it for me today! Please be sure to go check out the details for this digi set... not only is it for an amazing cause... helping another crafty friend and her husband, but it's really an amazing set of digi images for a great price!! Oh, and I almost forgot about the Linky Party... just create something with a floral theme and link up for your chance to win! But hurry... time is running out!!

Thanks so much for checking out my blog!
See ya next time.

Polka Dot Orchard ~ Petals for the Pittman's ~ Happy Birthday

Hello crafty friends!
I'm so excited to share another card using the daisy image that I created for the Petals for the Pittman's fundraiser digi set. I was so touched when Jessica of Polka Dot Orchard asked me to contribute to this amazing fundraiser digi set... the set is so huge that it's actually two digi sets and both sets are just filled with amazing flowers and sentiments!!

Be sure to go check out these wonderful digi sets right here ---> Petals for the Pittman's.

I started my card by simply printing off my daisy digi... it measures approx. 3-1/2 x 2-1/2"... I then colored it with the following Copic markers ~ YG11, YG23, YG25, Y06, Y11, Y35. I die cut my daisy with the Double Stitch Scalloped Rectangle Frames die by Poppy Stamps. This die cuts the rectangle, as well as, the scallops around it, so I usually adhere these two pieces to a piece of copy paper just so they stay nice together and then I can layer them or in this case, pop them up on the card. My next layer is a piece of kraft card stock that I blended Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed on over a 6 x 6" stencil called Mini Halftone Circles by The Crafters Workshop. I then die cut the kraft layer with the Blueprints 22 die by My Favorite Things. I didn't want to just have a plain white card base so I thought a diagonal strip of Bright Buttercup card stock would be fun so I trimmed it and adhered it to the white card base. I then adhered the kraft layer with the popped up daisy.

To finish off my daisy card, I trimmed the sentiment from the Floral Flourish Background 3 digi set. I just love the font for this Happy Birthday sentiment!! Love love love it!!

Polka Dot Orchard ~ Petals for the Pittman's ~ Happy Daisy

Hey there crafty friends!
I'm back with another card featuring the Petals for the Pittman's digi set by Polka Dot Orchard... this time, I'm sharing a card using the Daisy that I designed for the set. Daisies are my most favorite flower!! When Jessica asked if I wanted to contribute to the fundraiser, I just knew I had to draw a daisy... had to!!

I resized and combined a bunch of daisies on a Word document and printed them off, but I decided to just go with the single daisy. There's just something about white daisies... the purity and innocence of this sweet little flower. I thought it was fitting for the fundraiser, as well, because the daisy represents new beginnings and that's my hope for the Pittman's... that they will get through this ordeal and look forward to new beginnings.

For my card design, I wanted the daisy to pop and what better background makes a white flower pop than black! I also love the combination of neutrals with the white, black, and kraft. So I started with a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4" piece of kraft card stock that I ran through my Big Shot with the Bold Borders: Flare die from Papertrey Ink. I then ran it through again with a piece of Harvest Gold card stock just grabbing the little dots and setting the other piece aside for another time. I adhered the die cuts to a True Black card base and then fussy cut my daisy that I had already colored with the following Copic markers ~ N0, N1, YG11, YG23, YG25, Y06, Y11, Y35.

I popped up my fussy cut daisy and moved on to my sentiment... I decided to just use the Happy die that's included with the Bold Borders: Flare die. I die cut it twice from scraps of Harvest Gold and white card stock. I layered the die cuts and then adhered them to the card. Done!

I hope you'll check out the fabulous Petals for the Pittman's digi set at Polka Dot Orchard... it's a huge and amazing set that is for a wonderful cause! There's also prizes up for grabs if you enter the Linky Party over at Polka Dot Orchard. Lots of prizes you can win by entering a floral card!! But it's only for a limited time so go check out the details... Polka Dot Orchard!

I just love lilies!! Such gorgeous flowers!! So I was very excited to see one in this amazing floral digi set! I had so much fun coloring this image. I only used a few Copic markers for this one... RV19, RV91, YG11, G24, G94. I had fun adding the polka dots too... I think I went a little crazy with them, but how could you not?! I love it!

Here's a close up of the card I created. The sentiment is from the Floral Flourish Background 3 digi set. I love the font for this Happy Birthday sentiment and thought it would pair up nicely with the lovely lily!!

I was so touched when Jessica mentioned she was doing this fundraiser set for the Pittman's. Such a sweet way to help out a crafty friend! I'm even more touched by the pour out of love with donations by the crafty community... always warms my heart this fabulous community I'm a part of.
