Sending a Happy Hello with the Paint the Day Background Stamp ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Unity Stamp Co. is having a fun birthday celebration for Angela's 49th birthday!! Last week they released some fun new stamps and even some fabulous die sets... and this week they've released some more amazing stamps!! I'm sharing a card today using the amazing new Paint the Day background stamp kit!!

I had a fun idea for coloring this one up... I used a few different circle dies and lightly traced around them over the stamped Paint the Day Background. I did seven circles to represent the seven colors of the rainbow.

I copic colored the paint brushes within the circles using browns, neutral greys and cool greys.
Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:

Heads ~ {brown} E53, E55, E57, E59, {white} C00, C1, C3, C5, {grey} N0, N1, N3, N5, N7
Ferrules ~ N0, N1, N3, N5, N7
Handles ~ E21, E23, E25, E27, E29

And then I colored the background of each circle with a color of the rainbow starting with the top right circle. Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:

Red ~ R14, R20, R27
Orange ~ YR15, YR21, YR68
Yellow ~ Y00, Y06, Y35
Green ~ G07, G14, G20
Blue ~ B000, B00, B12
Indigo ~ BV02, BV04, BV08
Violet ~ V12, V15, V17

Once all the circles were colored I erased the pencil circles and trimmed my panel to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8". I adhered the paint brush panel to a black card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" and then adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base. I stamped the sentiment from the Sometimes I Wonder {March 2016 Sentiment Kit} with Wow Clear Embossing ink on black card stock and heat embossed Alabaster White Embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment and popped it up on the card using foam tape.

Such a fun way to do the spotlight technique! It did take some time and staying in the lines was also a bit of a challenge at times but it sure was worth it! Head over to the Unity Stamp Co. website to check out all the amazing new releases and of course, there's a wonderful sale!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal

Stamping Through a Stencil ~ Remember to Breathe ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I am back with another card featuring the beautiful new Remember to Breathe stamp from Unity Stamp Co. This beauty is a new Graciellie Design stamp that is now available in red rubber!! I am a huge fan of Graciellie Design stamps and butterflies!! So when I saw this beauty I just knew I had to play with it and had a fun idea to do some stamping through a stencil using the Wonky Stripes Background and Just a Dash Background stamps that released awhile ago that I hadn't gotten a chance to play with until now.

Isn't that just a beautiful butterfly?! I love it! I colored it very simply with three Copic markers: Y06, Y15, Y38 and then I fussy cut it and set it aside to make the background.

What I love about the technique I used is that it doesn't give a complete impression of the stamp... it's more of a imperfect distressed background. I did not plan on doing the additional blending around the oval but since I smudged some of the ink around the edges of the oval that was my 'fix'. The butterfly covers some of the background but I love how you can see the Wonky Stripes Background stamp in the Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac oxide inks and then the Just a Dash Background in the Amalgam black ink. These two background stamps are made to overlap and it was so fun to finally ink them up!

Here you can see more of the background. Perfectly imperfect! I love it! I hope you do too.
I have a quick video on my YouTube channel sharing my process in creating the background. You can check that out here... Stamping Through a Stencil | Remember to Breathe.

To finish up this card, I added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss to the butterfly and I popped up the sentiment with foam tape. A pretty CAS card with a fun background technique. I hope you're inspired to play with some of your background stamps. Be sure to check out the new release over at Unity Stamp Co. and, of course, there's a fabulous sale going on!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal

~ Friends of Unity March 2021 Blog Hop ~

 Hello there crafty friend!

Welcome to our March 2021 Friends of Unity Blog Hop! Last year's Friends of Unity Sketch was such a big hit that we were excited to do it again this year and I've been so excited to share!! This is such a fun sketch and I've had fun creating a few different cards to share with you all today! But first, let's take a look at the sketch...

Fun, right?! So many possibilities with this one! I hope you'll join us in the fun and share a card or two in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group... we'd love to see your creations!!

My first card features the new March 2021 Uniquely Unity membership kit... My Smiles Begin... I adore this new beautiful stamp! I've always loved cameras and even aspired to be a professional photographer at one point in my life.

I decided to flip the sketch for this card... no particular reason... it just seemed to work for this image. I used a mix of papers from the Mint Berry paper pack by The Paper Studio. I love the mix of pinks and mint in these papers... they just seemed perfect for this image! And to finish off the card, I added a little camera clip. So fun!

I used the following Copic markers for this stamp:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11, R00, R20
Hair ~ E30, E35, E47
Clothes ~ R11, R32, R43, RV10
Camera ~ BG10, BG23, G000, G12, T0, T2, T4
Outline ~ BG0000, BG11

My second card features the beautiful girl in the Graduation Wishes set... I found myself in need of a graduation card and was struggling to decide on the design when it hit me that this could work along with the Friends of Unity Sketch! It's a different take on the sketch since I already had the image die cut using the Geometric Double Frame dies from Gina Marie Designs but I think it still totally works!

This was one of those times where I colored the image before finding the papers... and I was lucky enough to find the beautiful Early Bird Collection papers by BoBunny in my collection of papers! I think they work wonderfully with this pretty grad!

I used the following Copic markers for this stamp:

Skin ~ E0000, E00, E11, R00
Hair ~ E51, E55, E57, E77
Clothes ~ BG0000, BG01, BG10, B39, B45, Y08, Y38, 100

My last card features the beautiful tulips from the March 2021 Kit of the Month... Hope to Be... such an amazing KOM this month!! Loving all the Spring images! I decided to change things up for this one by doing a little Spotlight Technique and rather than using a patterned paper for my background to have it CAS. Fun twist on the sketch, right?!

I wanted the Spotlight Technique to really shine for this one so I kept the other colors neutral with just black and white. That also meant that I had to dig through my paper stash to find one that would work and I decided on the Coffee papers by Echo Park. To finish this one off, I add a couple enamel dots from two different collections... unfortunately, they were also loose in my stash so I'm not sure which collections they came from. What do you think? Probably not the typical Easter card, but I really love how it turned out.

Here's the list of Copic markers for this one:

Tulips ~ Y96, Y11, YR07, YR15
Leaves / Stems ~ YG11, YG17, G14
Pitcher ~ BG05, BG15, BG57
Outline ~ BG0000, BG01

I tried to keep the chit chat to a minimum... I hope you've stuck around to the end! Before we move on to the hop though, I need to announce the winner from last month's hop.
Drum roll, please....
