Sending Fuzzy Cuddles

Hello! I am loving Heffy Doodle's Beary Big Heart! I'm a bit of a Pluviophile... I'm not sure that it's an actual word, but I've seen it around. It means a lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days. I love the rain! I always have.

When I saw the cute umbrella in the Beary Big Heart set, I knew I had to make a card with rain so I could use the umbrella stamp. I still had my Nuvo Mousses out on my desk so I dived in!! Using a blending tool I sponged some Aquamarine mousse on a piece of white card stock. I then die cut it out using the My Favorite Things Blueprint 14 Die-namics set. I dug through my stencil collection to find a raindrop stencil. Using microfiber tape I taped down my stencil over the white card stock and then used a spatula to add some Pacific Teal mousse. I love this monochromatic look to the card! I decided to stick with it and colored the umbrella with some blue green copic markers {BG10, BG18, BG72}. I love grey with teal so the little bear just had to be grey... I used copics to color him in too {N1, N3, N4, N5}. I die cut some dark teal card stock and layered that on a 5" x 5" white card base. I popped up the white raindrop panel. I then grabbed a scrap of the dark teal card stock... I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment using a fine white embossing powder. I fussy cut the banner end and then popped that up on the card. I adhered the umbrella to the bear and then adhered them to the card. I love that the bear looks happy in the rain!

Here's a picture to show some of the shimmer from the Nuvo mousses! I just love it!

I really hope that you enjoyed the card that I shared today. If you're loving the Beary Big Heart stamp set... it's still available in the store!!

Scrapping For Less ~ Another Look at the Thanks Card die

Hello again! Today I have for you another fun card using the Thanks Card die from Concord and 9th. The design of this die makes it very versatile... just with a couple of snips here and there, you can use the die cut Thanks as a focal point in a whole other way.

I started my card with a piece of watercolor paper. I thought it would be fun to do some watercoloring with the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse so I dabbed a little bit on my palette and sprayed it down with water. I sprayed my watercolor paper just a bit so that the color would flow and then using my water pen I added some color to the paper.

Here's a close up view of the mousse - it gives such a beautiful shimmer. I love it! I set that aside and started to cut strips of card stock in blue greens or is it green blues?! Ha! I adhered those on a scrap of white card stock and used the dies to cut out the word Thanks. The shimmer on the watercolor paper made the letter look too plain so I decided to give them some glittery fun with some sparkle silk. I then wanted the letters to pop just a bit more so I die cut the Thanks one more time with white card stock and off set that layer underneath the ombre strips. I really love how it makes the letter pop! At this point I knew I needed just something else... so I walked away and thought about it. Isn't it funny how walking away from a project just for a little bit gives you a different perspective when you come back to it?! Well, I came back and just knew this card needed this fun flourish accent and a few sequins to finish it off.

See ya next time.

CYCI163 - We Salute You!

Hello again! I have a patriotic card for you today. I had planned on making something else but just yesterday I received this beautiful Angie's Girl from Unity Stamp Company called America Girl! I just had to ink her up!

I stamped America Girl in VersaMark ink and heat embossed her with fine silver embossing powder. I then used Ken Oliver's Color Burst in Alizarin Crimson and Ultramarine Blue to make my watercolored background. I'll admit, it was difficult keeping the red and blue from becoming purple, but I think I did okay. In the picture the red kind of looks pink but it's really more red in person. I die cut the watercolor panel using My Favorite Things Blueprints #31. I then added some Pure Platinum Nuvo Mousse over a star stencil I have from Stampin' Up! I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it with fine silver embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment and cut out a banner by hand. I then adhered it to the watercolor panel. I decided to also die cut a piece of Brushed Silver card stock using the same Blueprints #31 die set. I offset those two pieces and adhered them to a true black card base using stampin' dimensionals.

Here's a picture that shows the shine on the America Girl and the stars.

CYCI152 - Happy Easter!

Hello! It's time for another color challenge with Can You Case It? I am loving this color combo from Amber... gorgeous!! We have Turquoise, Pink, Lime, and Kraft!! Are you kidding?!!? My faves all together! Here is my first official Easter card.

I had so much fun putting this card together but I have to admit, I cheated a bit. All of the product for this card is in a kit that I had purchased from Simon Says Stamp, the March Card Kit. The kit is no longer available, but I believe some of the pieces of the kit are available so go check it out!

My absolute favorite part of this kit is that it came with a stencil and mini containers of Nuvo Mousse! I love Nuvo Mousse! It is so much fun to play with and it's so versatile. I hope to play around with it more and share my projects here. Anywho, back to the card, I used the stencil and the mousse for my focal point on this card. I tore some of the patterned papers and layered it on the card base. I added some beautiful satin ribbon and attempted a bow... haha! I hope you like it!

I can't wait to see what you create using this color combo as your inspiration!! Be sure to join our Facebook group so that you can enter the challenge... Can You Case It? Challenge Group and go check out all the creations by the CYCI design team on our Facebook page!

Here are the products I used for this card:
Stamps: Some Bunny (SSS)
Inks: VersaMark (SSS)
Aquamarine Nuvo Mousse, Peony Pink Nuvo Mousse (SSS), White embossing powder (retired SU!)
