~ Friends of Unity May 2022 Blog Hop ~

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's one of my favorite times of the month... time for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! Our cue this month is a fun one! It's similar to a couple of other blog hops that we have done before that were a lot of fun and I even went back and had a look to see the creations we all shared before. I can't wait to see all the new creations shared by our friends today! So let's get to the cue...

... Things with Wings!! Yay!
This cue has so many possibilities... butterflies, dragonflies, bats, bees, birds, ladybugs, angels, fairies, and dragons. There are SO many things with wings! And Unity has an amazing assortment of stamps just perfect for this cue! So many that I was overwhelmed with what to use! LOL!

And then I saw this cutie for the amazing new release over at Unity! I just HAD to ink these two up from the One Kind Word stamp kit! Normally I wouldn't be a fan of worms but this has got to be the cutest worm ever! And those big eyes on the bird... love him!!

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers that I used to color up this little scene:

Bird ~ Y06, Y15, BG10, BG01, BG34, E55, C00, C3
Worm ~ R01, RV10, RV21, RV14
Grass ~ YG11, YG23, G24
Sky ~ B0000, B000, B00

I die cut the colored up scene with the new Make A Tag {die set} and then I die cut a cute paper to coordinate with my coloring. I used the pretty Flutter Away {paper pack}... love these gorgeous papers! I trimmed my sentiment and then I placed it on my die and lined up the tag die over both. I used some Washi tape to secure it in place over the sentiment and then I die cut the sentiment too. I cut two 1/8" strips of black card stock and adhered the sentiment along with the black strips to the tag. I die cut the circle in the top of the tag and used my Crop-a-dile to cut out the hole on the pattern paper. This gave me a place to adhere the cute stitched circle die cut. I found some cute ribbons in my stash and tied them off with some twine that perfectly matched the colors in the tag... done! So cute!!

Another fab new release from Unity's big Birthday Sale... the Endlessly Beautiful stamp kit!! I'm a huge fan of the butterfly stamps available at Unity!! I pretty much have to have them all!! This one with the hot air balloon of butterflies is so unique and beautiful. I love it!!

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used for this pretty card:

Clouds ~ B0000, B00
Butterflies ~ V000, V12, V15, V17, Y06, Y15
Basket ~ E51, E35, E39
Background ~ B0000, B00

Here you can see some of the dimension in the card. I popped up the butterfly hot air balloon along with the cloud underneath it and then I also popped up the bottom cloud. I put a scrap of card stock underneath the bottom cloud to give it a tiny bit more height than the hot air balloon. I also popped up the one mostly yellow butterfly! So much pretty dimension on this card!

I blended some Tumbled Glass Oxide ink over the Cloud & Wave Stencil that I had secured over a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of white card stock. I used three sides of the Cloud & Wave Stencil so that the clouds would be a bit different. I trimmed the cloud background and adhered it to a blue piece of card stock that I had die cut with the largest of the Postage Stamp {nesting dies}. I trimmed the sentiment and mat it with the same blue card stock. I adhered the sentiment and a few clouds to the cloud background. And then I popped up the hot air ballon, a couple clouds and the butterfly as I mentioned above. I adhered the entire panel to a white A2 top fold card base. If I was to remake this card, I would probably use purple card stock for the postage stamp die layer for a bit of contrast to all the blue and I think it would also help the butterflies pop. But all in all... I like how the card turned out.

For my last card I inked up the adorable Delightful Flutterbys stamp kit... I saw a card shared in the Unity Show & Tell a while back and just HAD to add this cute set of stamps to my collection. This adorable Queen bee is so stinkin' cute!! I paired her up with the sweet Little Princess 6x8 paper pad from Simple Stories. I actually remembered to pick out my papers first for this one and decided to color up her crown with yellows to coordinate with the paper so I thought it would be fun to color up the bee pink... I bet there's a bee out there somewhere in the world that would love to be pink! LOL!

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used to color up this adorable pink bee:

Crown ~ Y06, Y15, Y28, RV10, RV21, RV14
Bee ~ RV10, RV21, N1. N3, N6
Cheeks ~ RV10, RV21, RV14
Wings ~ B000, B00, B02

If you follow my blog and/or my weekly Christmas card posts, you may recognize this card design... it's the current sketch for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers for the month of May. I thought it was the perfect design for a cute little birthday card. I cut my pretty papers and adhered them to a 6x6" card base that I scored at 3". I die cut the ric rac using a die from My Favorite Things and had to cut it in half to fit on the card but it's hidden under the popped up Queen bee. I trimmed up the sentiment and adhered it to a piece of pretty paper from the paper pad. I trimmed up the mat for the sentiment and then adhered it to the card. Woohoo! I really love how this mini slimline card turned out! So cute!

~ Friends of Unity April 2022 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's one of my favorite times of the month... time for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop!!
I've been so excited for this month's cue and I can't wait to see all the amazing creations in our hop so I'm going to try my hardest to keep my chit chat short and sweet. So let's get to the cue...

... Pattern Paper!!! Yes!! I love pattern paper! It's such an essential product for us paper crafters and cardmakers! I have been hoarding it for years and years... I can't help buying more too! LOL! I'm sure some of you understand the struggle! Anyhow, let's get to the cards...

My first card features the adorable Destination Happiness itty bitty stamp and I paired it up with the beautiful Pink Lemonade papers from The Paper Studio. A few years ago I lived near a Hobby Lobby and oh boy, did I stock up on the pattern papers from there. I still have A LOT!!!

I went a little nuts here with all pattern papers for my layers. But it's a sure way to have coordinating colors AND it does help to use up some of those papers in the hoard so you don't feel so bad about buying more.

Some of you that follow along with my Christmas card posts may recognize this sketch... it's actually the very first {BYSHC} Sketch. Some sketches work better than others when it comes to using pattern papers... and this one did not disappoint!

I added a little bit of Glossy Accents to the windows for some fun shine.
Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used for the RV on this card:

RV ~ B0000, B00
Door / Hearts ~ R20, R14, R27
Curtain ~ YG11, YG23
Windows ~ Y11, Y06
Tire ~ C00, C2, N0, N1, N3, N5
Door Handle ~ N0, N1, N5
Brake Light ~ R20, R14, R27

For my second card I didn't use any stamps... I used the awesome Say It With Love {Coordinating Die Set} with the beautiful Watercolor Succulents {paper pack} from the August 2020 Whit Kit.

I also die cut the Hello from True Black card stock from Papertrey Ink and adhered the layers together. I mat the layers on Winter Wisteria card stock and then adhered them to a True Black card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". I adhered the card front to a white A2 top fold card base.

I couldn't resist using a little Adhesive Transfer sentiment from the new release. These Adhesive Transfers are so amazing!! And super easy peasy to use! The 'beautiful' sentiment is from the Deco Foil Adhesive Transfers by Unity {Sentiment 2} and I used Lilac Deco Foil... it's so pretty in person!! I finished off the card with a few Fall Foliage Clear with Color enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs.

My last card features the adorable ladybugs stamp from the new April 2022 Kit of the Month called True Colors. I just love this stamp!! I die cut the ladybugs with the Wonky Stitched Circle die from Gina Marie Designs.

I chose the Really Rainbow paper pack from Lawn Fawn for this card. I purposely cut the papers to only use the reds, oranges and yellows to coordinate with the colors in the ladybugs that I colored.

Here's the list of Copic Markers that I used to color up the ladybugs:

Pink Ladybugs ~ R20, R14
Red Ladybugs ~ R20, R14, R27, N0, N3, N5
Orange Ladybugs ~ Y11, Y06, YR15, R14, R27, N0, N3, N5
Yellow Ladybug ~ Y11, Y06, Y35, N0, N3, N5
Ladybug Outlines ~ C00, C2

I used all pattern papers from the same pack for my layers on this card, too. I adhered the trimmed and matted sentiment from the Love You Dearly {April 2022 Sentiment Kit} to the ladybug wonky circle and then popped them both up with foam tape. The card front is adhered to a white A2 top fold card base.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize package and that lucky winner is...

... Laurie2cats!! Congratulations, Laurie!

Happiest Day of the Year ~ An Ungloomy Day {March 2022 Sentiment Kit} ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Oh my goodness... I am so excited to share my card for today!!! Unity just released two new Eeyore stamps and a Winnie the Pooh... I couldn't wait to play with the sweet Eeyore in the An Ungloomy Day {March 2022 Sentiment Kit}! SOOO cute!

I chose the cute birthday sentiment from the kit so I thought it would be great to pair up Eeyore with the Balloon Party Background stamp. I chose a pretty pastel color combo for the balloons and used the following Copic Markers to color them up:

Pink ~ R0000, R20, RV21
Purple ~ V0000, V12, V06
Aqua ~ BG000, BG10, BG23

I set aside the background and colored up Eeyore with the following Copic Markers:

Eeyore ~ T0, B91, B95, B97
Inner Ear ~ R0000, R20, RV21
Butterfly ~ B10, B23, V12, V06

I die cut the balloons background with the large stitched rectangle die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies} and mat with black card stock. I die cut a piece of white card stock with the scallops die and adhered the layers all together.

I fussy cut Eeyore leaving a skinny white border just around the hair, but I cut the rest on the black line. I cleaned up the black line edges with a Memento Tuxedo black marker by just coloring the edges with the marker. A great tip for making those edges look nice and clean! I trimmed the sentiment and mat it with black card stock. I adhered the sentiment to the card front and then I adhered the scallop layer to a white A2 top fold card base. I popped up Eeyore with foam tape and placed him on the card sitting just on top of the sentiment. I really love how this turned out!

Head on over to Unity to check out all the new releases!!
So many beautiful new stamps and a whole bunch of fantastic stamps on sale, too!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal

~ Friends of Unity March 2022 Blog Hop ~

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's one of my favorite times of the month... time for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop!!
Before I share the cue or my cards, I want to say a big THANK YOU to one of our sweet friends who shared some of her duplicates for our Friends of Unity giveaways! You know who you are... I appreciate you! Now, onto our cue...

... a Kraft, Black & White color combo!! A fun neutral color combo!! I've been very excited for this one, but I was seriously stuck when it came time to create. I did a quick search on Pinterest which didn't actually have much but seeing a few random cards with mandalas inspired me for my first card.

My first card using the beautiful heart mandala and a sentiment from the January 2022 KOM called Found in the Heart.

Such a quick card with some simple stamping and a little acrylic paint splatter.

I added a few black enamel dots. A layer of white and black card stock to finish off the design. I wish I had stamped the sentiment a smidge higher - closer to the middle, but I still like how the card turned out.

My second card is a card that I made for my second oldest son who we just graduated from high school. We're so proud of him! The card is pretty simple with a black base layer and then I die cut a layer of Kraft card stock with the Falling Stars {background die}. I added some white acrylic paint splatter for a touch of white on the bottom layer.

I stamped the graduate from the You Did Good stamp kit with Gina K. Black Amalgam ink. I die cut the stamped image with the smallest stitched rectangle die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting die} and mat it on black card stock.

I used a white Prismacolor pencil to color around the image to give the image a bit of dimension and to add a bit more white to the card. I finished off the card by stamping the sentiment with Wow Clear Embossing ink and heat embossed some Alabaster white embossing powder. The sentiment is popped up with foam tape. I think it turned out nice. I hope my son likes it.

For my last card I've veered away from our cue to support #cardsforukraine. Sending prayers, love and support to the Ukrainian people.

I stamped the script stamp from the Spring Inspired {Layers of Life March 2014} kit and the stitching stamp from the Time to be Happy Again {Layers of Life January 2015} kit on the distress watercolor card stock with Wow Clear Embossing ink. I melted some Alabaster white embossing powder and then ink smooshed Mustard Seed and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks.

I splattered some water and a bit of Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink on the panel. I stamped the stitching stamp with the Mustard Seed ink and the Blueprint Sketch ink. And then I stamped the flourish from the Time to be Happy Again {LOL January 2015} kit three times on the panel with the Blueprint Sketch ink.

I stamped the sunflower and sentiments from the Sunflower Wishes {September 2021 Sentiment Kit} and then I colored up the sunflower with Y06, Y35, and YR27 Copic markers. I fussy cut the sunflower and popped it up on the card with foam tape. I trimmed around the sentiments leaving a skinny white border and adhered it to the card at an angle similar to the script stamp. And finished off the card with a few black enamel dots. My heart breaks for the Ukrainian people. My mother's father, my grandfather, was from the Ukraine and I remember meeting some of our extended family when I was just a kid. Unfortunately, we have not stayed in touch but I hope and pray that they are all safe and well.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize package and that lucky winner is...

... Linda Abel!! Congratulations, Linda!

Well, that's it for me this time! Please hop along and enjoy some more inspiration from the Friends of Unity... I will be doing another fun giveaway this month!! Be sure to hop along and comment for a chance to win! I'll announce the winner next month!

~ Friends of Unity February 2022 Blog Hop ~

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's one of my favorite times of the month... time for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop!!
I've been excited for this month's hop because our cue is one of my favorites. Any guesses what it may be?! I bet if you've followed my blog for awhile you could make a pretty good guess. Well, let's have a peek at our cue this month...

... A FUN SKETCH! Yay!! I love a good sketch... and this one was fun to play with. I have two cards to share with you today!

My first card is a pretty mini slimline card using a new release from Unity called The Girl Moves Forward. This beauty is a new Angie Girl by the one and only Angie Blom... love this new girl! I paired her up with the beautiful Simple Spring {paper pack}.

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used for this beautiful girl:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11
Hair ~ E43, E44, E47
Pants ~ C00, C2
Shirt ~ C00, C2, R01, R12, R22
Hair Tie ~ YR0000, YR30, R01, R12, R22, BG23

The sentiment is also from the The Girl Moves Forward stamp kit... I cut a couple scraps of card stock to fit under the sentiment to pop it up a bit. This is an alternative to using foam tape that I like to use... it doesn't give as much bulk to the card. I finished off the card with a bit of {Ivory} May Arts Burlap String.

*Squeal* I am SO excited that Unity has Winnie the Pooh stamps in red rubber!! Woohoo! So stinking fun and I couldn't wait to play with this cutie from the Winnie the Pooh: How Do You Spell Love stamp kit! I went with the A2 size for this one but adjusted my layers so I could use the fantastic Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies} - unfortunately, these are currently sold out.

Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used for this card:

Piglet ~ RV0000, RV10, RV14, RV21
Pooh ~ Y06, Y11, Y15
Flowers / Leaf ~ Y02, Y11, Y15, YG03, YG11
Ground ~ YG03, YG11
Sky ~ B0000, B00

My card stock layers are Spring Rain and Spring Moss from Papertrey Ink. And I used some more of the {Ivory} May Arts Burlap String around the top of the card front.

My design just wouldn't allow for the second sentiment on the front so I brought the image and sentiment inside the card. Piglet and Pooh are stamped with Weathervane ink from Papertrey Ink and the sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink.

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize package and that lucky winner is...

... Debbie Bohanan!! Congratulations, Debbie!
Please email me at crystalominkler@gmail.com to claim your prize.
Prize must be claimed within two weeks.

Well, that's it for me this time! Please hop along and enjoy some more inspiration from the Friends of Unity... I can't wait to see how our friends were inspired by this month's cue! Let's keep the party going and I'll do another fun giveaway this month!! Be sure to hop along and comment for a chance to win! I'll announce the winner next month!
