Emboss Resist with ZIGs Watercolor Wash ~ Technique Tuesday ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I'm back with another Technique Tuesday! On the 2nd Tuesday of each month I'll be sharing a bit of inspiration and a video featuring a fun technique. I hope that you'll be inspired to get inky and play along with some of the techniques that I share.

Today's technique is a fun twist on a technique I shared last month using ZIGs for a quick watercolor wash background... the twist? Throwing some Emboss Resist in there!

First up, I used the gorgeous flowers from the November 2021 Kit of the Month called Kinda Sorta Love Ya for a pretty Fall card. The flowers were stamped with white pigment ink and I heat embossed white embossing powder that I had applied to the wet ink. This shiny raised design is what resists the watercolor wash from the ZIGs.

I used Yellow, Bright Yellow, Orange, Brown and Mid Brown ZIGs for the background. Also used those colors to darken the flowers... adding Light Green and Olive Green for the leaves and stems. The watercolor washed background was die cut with the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Die Set. I then adhered it to an Early Espresso card front and adhered the entire panel to a white A2 card base.

The sentiment is from the Cut Apart Sentiment Strips... these strips come in handy when you need a quick sentiment for a card!

Such a fun card to make!

Next up is a rainbow-filled birthday card featuring the awesome Rainbow Birthday stamps... illustrated by Graciellie Design and available in red rubber at Unity! So happy to have this one in my collection! I stamped the candles on watercolor paper, also heat embossing them.

For this background I used Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple ZIGs. Die cut the watercolor washed panel using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles Nesting Dies. Adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base.

I also heat embossed and watercolored the cake and an extra candle... doesn't it look yummy?! Used the same ZIGs that I used for the background. Added a touch of Light Grey for some shadow on the white icing. I also used the same rainbow ZIGs to watercolor stamp the sentiment.

Fussy cut the cake and candle and adhered them together. I added a bunch of foam tape to the back of both and popped it up on the card. Trimmed the sentiment and popped it up on the card with foam tape, as well.

You can check out my process video here for creating the backgrounds... Emboss Resist with ZIGs Watercolor Wash | Technique Tuesday | Unity Stamp Co.

Such a fun and simple technique with so many possibilities depending on what colors you use and the mix of stamps! If you give this fun technique a try, I'd love to see what you create so please share your cards in the Unity Show & Tell group and tag me. Have an ink-tastic day!

Spooktacular Halloween with the October 2022 Kit of the Month ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Happy Halloween crafty friend!
Wishing you and your family a spooktacular Halloween! Today I'm sharing a bit more inspiration for the October 2022 Kit of the Month. I've paired it up with a couple past KOMs from my stash to make a fun mixed media Halloween card.

I started by stamping one of the texture stamps from the October 2022 KOM on a full sheet of white card stock with embossing ink. I added some clear embossing powder to the ink and melted the powder with a heat tool.

I then ink smooshed the card front using Carved Pumpkin, Rusty Hinge, and Villainous Potion Distress Oxide inks. I added some water splatters by spritzing water in the palm of my hand and clapping over the card stock. I dabbed the extra water with a paper towel. And then dried the card stock with a heat tool.

I stamped the tree from the September 2013 Kit of the Month called Happiness Has No Limit. I then stamped the witch from the August 2013 Kit of the Month called Cozy Moments. I stamped the large texture stamp from the October 2022 KOM first with Rusty Hinge oxide ink and then with Black Soot oxide ink. I love the added texture this gives the card.

To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment with white pigment ink on black card stock and heat embossed some white embossing powder. I trimmed it up and popped it up on the card. I cut the panel to 3-3/4 x 5" and mat it with orange and then purple card stock measuring 1/8" more each layer. I then adhered the layers to a black card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". And adhered the card front to a white A2 top fold card base measuring 4-1/4 x 11"; scored at 5-1/2". You can check out my process video here... Membership Monday ~ Emboss Resist Technique ~ October 2022 Kit of the Month ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I'm back with more inspiration for the October 2022 Kit of the Month! Today I'm sharing a CAS card using the Emboss Resist Technique. A fun technique that can create layers in your focal piece. So fun!

I started by masking my card front of white card stock with iCraft Removable Pixie Tape. This also secured the card front to my surface. I stamped the dotted leaves a couple times each with embossing ink. I added some clear embossing powder to the leaves and melted the powder with a heat tool.

I then blended Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, and Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide inks over the embossed leaves. I added another layer to the background by stamping a few more leaves with clear embossing ink and then heat embossed some clear embossing powder over those. A bit more ink blending with Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks.

My last layer of leaves was stamped with Black Soot and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks. I also stamped the sentiment with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. Such a fun technique and so wonderful for a Fall card! You can check out my video sharing this technique here... Emboss Resist Technique | October 2022 Kit of the Month | Unity Stamp Co.

Hope you've been inspired to get inky with your October Kit of the Month and if you haven't received yours yet, why not try the emboss resist technique with stamps from a past KOM! I just love this technique. I hope you'll give it a try.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
