Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 24 ~ Mousing Around: Hiya, Pal ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing inspiration for the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 24 in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group. Just like last week's card, I had this adorable stamped heart on my desk just asking to be made into a card. These adorable mice are from the Mousing Around: Hiya, Pal stamps from Unity. Love them!

I'm continuing to use up some of my leftover papers. This 4 x 3-1/2" piece of pattern paper is the only left in the scraps that would work with this month's sketch. All the other were cut down for last week's card so I'm thinking next week I'll do my August scraps cards.

Here's a look again at the original scraps I started with this month. I should have taken a current picture so you could see what's left. It's not nearly this much.

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 24. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it. I like to think my inspiration is usually a good example of this since I'm always adjusting the sketch. Today is no different since I added the heart over the pattern paper.

I stamped the mice from the Mousing Around: Hiya, Pal with Black Amalgam ink from Gina K. Designs. I stamped the hearts with a reddish purple ink but since this has been sitting on my desk for months, I'm not sure what actual ink I used. I die cut the mice using a die from the Dashes and Frills Hearts {die set}. I colored up the mice with my Copic markers. I coordinated my colors with the papers.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Black: N0, N2, N4, N6
White: C00, C1, C3
Yellow: Y15, Y06, Y38
Pinky Purple: RV10, V91, V93, V95
Red: R20, R14, R46
Ground: C00, C1

I adhered the pattern paper to a 4 x 5-1/4" piece of Stampers Select White card stock from Papertrey Ink. I trimmed up the star paper and adhered it to the heart and then I added a bunch of foam tape to the back of both the heart and the star paper. I popped those up on the panel and then I adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base. The sentiment was also a scrap on my desk. I know it's Unity but I'm really not sure which stamp. If you happen to know, please let me know in the comments. I hope you all have fun with this sketch! I can't wait to see what you create with it.
Have an ink-tastic week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Paws Challenge #229 ~ Birthday Theme Challenge

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new Inky Paws Challenge... a super fun Birthday Theme Challenge! I sure hope that you'll play along with us using your Newton's Nook Designs products! You have until Friday, August 16th to get your entries in for the #229 Birthday Theme Challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

Such a broad and fun theme! I'm excited to see the entries for this one!

I really wanted to give the new Fractured Card Layout Die a try. So I grabbed the Birthday Meows 6x6 Paper Pad and trimmed a few pieces of the pattern paper to fit over the die. I secured them on the back of the die with a piece of washi tape. I love how quick and easy this design was to make!

I stamped the adorable kitty from Newton's Heart Stamp Set on white card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then stamped it again on a scrap of the pink pattern paper. I Copic colored the kitty on white card stock and die cut it using the coordinating Newton's Heart Die Set. And I fussy cut the pattern paper heart and paper pieced it to the kitty.

I wanted the kitty to fit in with the birthday theme just a bit more so I also stamped the party hat and present from the Newton's Birthday Delights Stamp Set. I colored them with my Copic markers and then die cut them using the coordinating Newton's Birthday Delights Die Set. The sentiment also comes from the Newton's Birthday Delights Stamp Set. I masked the bottom portion of the sentiment using a post-it note when I inked it up. I removed the post-it note and then stamped the sentiment. I did this a couple of times in my mini misti to get a nice crisp stamped 'partial' sentiment. I trimmed it up and then adhered it directly to the card.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Kitty: C00, C1, C3, R00, R20
Party Hat: RV10, RV11, YG21, YG03, B000, B00
Present: YR21, YR15

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project with a Summer theme. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 24 ~ Bitty Birthday Bash ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing my first card for the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 24 in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group.  I've been wanting to play with the adorable Bitty Birthday Bash from Unity. It's been sitting on my desk for weeks!

I am continuing to use up some of my leftover papers. I came across these pretty rainbow papers in my stash. No idea what these papers are called or who made them. They sure are pretty though!

Here's a look at the leftovers I'll be using up. I'm hoping to finish these up quick this month.

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 24. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it. I moved my sentiment and added the sequins in place of the little rectangle. A good example of letting the sketch lead, but not limiting the design.

I stamped the Bitty Birthday Bash birds using Black Amalgam ink for the birds and Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Ink for the balloons. I colored up the birds and a bit more of the balloons using my Copic markers. Fussy cut them leaving a bit of a white border around the images.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Birds: Y11, Y15, YR12
Pink Hat / Pink Balloons: RV000, RV11, C1
Purple Hat / Purple Balloons: V000, V12, C1
Grass: YG11, YG23
Flowers: B000, B00

I love how quick these cards came together! All my layers are adhered directly to a white A2 top fold card base. No foam tape or popping up of anything on this one.

I hope you all have fun with this sketch! I can't wait to see what you create with it.
Have an ink-tastic week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Membership Wednesday ~ July 2024 BOM Fiesta Flutters ~ Unity Stamp Co.

  Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a lovely card featuring the gorgeous stamp from the July 2024 Background of the Month membership called Fiesta Flutters from Unity. I am seriously loving this gorgeous background stamp! Butterflies are my jam! Haha...

I once again ink smooshed a few Distress Inks on Kraft card stock from Papertrey Ink. I love how the colors look on Kraft card stock! I ink smooshed Carved Pumpkin, Cracked Pistachio, and Festive Berries Distress Inks. This was such a different combo for me... what do you think?! I am loving it!

I dried the ink smooshed panel completely with a Wagner Precision Heat Tool. I then prepped the card stock using a TE Anti-Static Powder Tool from Taylored Expressions. I stamped the gorgeous butterfly background using Sugar Cube White Pigment Ink, also from Taylored Expressions, and added Alabaster White Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe to the wet ink. I then melted the powder using my heat tool.

I die cut the butterfly background using the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Die Set. I then adhered the butterfly panel to a white A2 top fold card base. I stamped the sentiment from the Bitty Birthday Bash stamps on a long scrap of white card stock using the Festive Berries Distress Ink. I trimmed up the sentiment and adhered it to the card. To finish off the card, I added a few glittery white enamel dots from my stash.

Here's a quick look at this month's Background of the Month membership! I love it so much!!

Well, that's it for me today! I hope you've been inspired to play with your membership stamps!
Hope you have an ink-redible day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Membership Wednesday ~ July 2024 UU Winged Impressions ~ Unity Stamp Co.

  Hello there crafty friend!
Today I'm sharing a card featuring a gorgeous stamp from the July 2024 Uniquely Unity membership called Winged Impressions from Unity. I absolutely love butterfly stamps! And this awesome mix of butterfly and distressed text is amazing!!

I wanted to see what it would look like heat embossed on ink smooshed Kraft card stock. I love it! The distress inks smooshed on the Kraft card stock look so cool! I ink smooshed Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Tea Dye Distress Inks on Kraft card stock from Papertrey Ink.

I dried the ink smooshed panel completely with a Wagner Precision Heat Tool. I then prepped the card stock using a TE Anti-Static Powder Tool from Taylored Expressions. I stamped the gorgeous butterfly using Sugar Cube White Pigment Ink, also from Taylored Expressions, and added Alabaster White Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe to the wet ink. I then melted the powder using my heat tool.

I tore the edges of the panel and added foam tape to the back. To figure out placement for the sentiment, I laid the butterfly panel on top of a Kraft A2 card base. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Bitty Birthday Bash stamps using the same steps as the butterfly. I wrapped some white baker's twine around the front of the card base securing it with tape on the front. I removed the backing from the foam tape and popped up the butterfly panel. To finish off the card, I added three white enamel dots.

Here's a quick look at this month's Uniquely Unity membership! So freaking gorgeous!! I love it!

Well, that's it for me today! I hope you've been inspired to play with your membership stamps!
Have an ink-redible day!

Inky Paws Challenge #227 ~ Color Challenge

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a new Inky Paws Challenge... a beautiful Color Challenge
I sure hope that you'll join in the fun and play along with us with your Newton's Nook Designs products! You have until Friday, July 19th to get your entries in for the #227 Color Challenge and a chance to win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs!

Such an amazing color combo... Amethyst Purple, Fuchsia Pink, Sky Blue, and Sand Brown!!

My first thought when I saw these beautiful colors was the Bokeh Stencil Set would make a beautiful background!! For the first stencil in the set, I blended Wilted Violet and a bit of Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide inks. And then I replaced the first stencil with the second one in the set and blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

I trimmed up the panel to 3-3/4 x 5" and mat it with a 3-7/8 x 5-1/8" piece of Kraft card stock from Papertrey Ink. I then adhered the panel to a white A2 top fold card base measuring 4-1/4 x 11"; scored at 5-1/2".

I stamped the adorable kitty and the sentiment from the Newton's Birthday Balloons Stamp Set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored up the kitty with a handful of Copic markers. I fussy cut the kitty leaving a white border. If you don't like fussy cutting there is a coordinating Newton's Birthday Ballons Die Set available (it's on my wishlist!). I trimmed up the sentiment and cut two small scraps of card stock. I adhered the scraps together and then adhered them on the back right edge of the sentiment allowing the sentiment to lay flat on the card when I adhered it. I added foam tape to the back of the kitty and popped him up on the card.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Kitty: R00, R20, YR000, YR21, YR15
Gift: E30, E33
Pink Balloon: RV10, RV11, RV02, RV13, RV63, RV14
Purple Balloon: V000, V12, V15
Blue Balloon: B000, B00, B02

Now it's your turn to get your paws inky with your Newton's Nook Designs products and create a project using the color combo of Amethyst Purple, Fuchsia Pink, Sky Blue, and Sand Brown. Be sure to link up to the Inky Paws Challenge! Can't wait to see your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

More 'Scraps' Cards ~ Pissy Party Plus a Few More Stamps ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I found some time to finish up the latest batch of 'scraps' cards I've been mentioning. Yay! I had enough scraps to make three cards and a tag. It feels so good to finish up another pattern paper pack. These are the papers I've been using for some of my TOP Inky Inspiration Sketch 21 and 22 cards. It was starting to feel like these papers would never get finished up!

Here's a look at the three cards and the tag. All very different! I'd love to know if you have a favorite of the batch. If you have a moment, comment below and let me know.

My first card features the adorable Pissy Party kitty. I'm making an effort to once again do a bit of watercoloring each month so this month I watercolored this fun cat. I used a bunch of ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers. Here's the list: Light Gray, Mid Gray, Yellow Green, Light Green, Yellow, Pink, Light Carmine, Light Blue, Cobalt Blue and Beige. Oh, and I also used my water pen. I fussy cut the kitty leaving a bit of a white border around him. I added foam tape to the back of the kitty and popped him up on the card. I used two scrap papers for this card. These were my largest pieces. I die cut a scrap of white card stock with a die from the Make a Tag {die set}. I didn't want to leave a lot of white space above the kitty so I used a couple of the tiny scraps and stapled them to the card. To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment with Black Amalgam ink and die cut it with a die from the Scalloped & Stitched Sentiment Nesting Dies.

My second card features the adorable Planner Gal: Simply Perfect Birthday. This card was actually inspired by the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 22. It has some elements from the sketch, but it definitely took a left turn at some point! LOL! I really liked the three pattern papers clustered together but I wanted a touch of black behind them so I die cut a piece of True Black card stock from Papertrey Ink using a circle die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies} from Unity. Not completely sure I love how that turned out. I do like the contrast of the rectangles with the circle. Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up the sweet birthday girl:

Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E51, E55, E57
Dress: RV10, RV11
Crown: Y11, Y15, Y28
Flower: Y11, RV10, RV11, YG11, YG23
Cake: C00, C1, C3
Candle: Y11, Y15, B000, B00, B02
Cake Stand: B000, B00, B02

Here's a look at the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 22. This challenge ends next Monday June 24th!! So get your entries in! I'd love to see what you do with this sketch.

My last card is super CAS and simple! I had one long strip of pattern paper. This is always an easy card design for a quick CAS card. This card features the You're Better itty bitty. I thought this would be a fun birthday card. I'm thinking I need to color in the heart though. What do you think?

My tag features the Hooray it's your Birthday itty bitty stamp. My last couple of scraps really had me stuck for a bit. I just couldn't figure out a card design that I liked and then I saw this tag on my desk. I think the pattern papers look so nice with this tag and then the black circles really make the pile of gifts pop! The black circles were also scraps in my True Black card stock folder so that was a bonus. I found a few enamel dots from my stash to compliment the blues in the papers and to finish off the tag I added a bit of white organdy ribbon. Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used for the gifts: Y11, Y15, Y28, C00, C1, C3, RV10, RV11, B000, B00, YG11, and YG23.

So excited to add three more cards and a cute tag to my stash! I'm even more excited to have another paper pack done! Woohoo! What do you think of the card designs this time? Do you have a favorite? I'm leaning towards the kitty card. Well, I'm excited to pick out another paper pack to finish off. I think I'll pick one out to use with the upcoming Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 23 that will start next Tuesday. Have a wonderfully inky week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

~ Friends of Unity June 2024 Blog Hop ~

Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! This month's cue is a fun one with a lot of possibilities. I can't wait to see how our friends were inspired for this one! Don't forget to hop along and comment on all the blogs for a chance to win a fun prize.

This month's cue is Celebrations. I was a bit overwhelmed with this one. I had a hard time deciding what to use. So many options for the cue... birthdays, anniversary, graduation, new baby, new home, etc. It's truly endless. And then to narrow down the stamps. I eventually thought it would be best to go with upcoming celebrations in our home. So I made a birthday and anniversary card.

First up is a fun birthday card for my daughter's 12th birthday that is coming up this month. I had mentioned last time I used this beautiful new Angie Girl from the Echo of Kindness stamps that she reminded me of my daughter. So I just had to use her again for her birthday card!

Inspiration for my card came from the new Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 22. A great sketch for those leftover scrap papers! This is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. Lots of fun layers so I could use a few different pattern papers. So fun!

I stamped the sweet girl using Amalgam Black Ink from Gina K Designs. I colored her up very simply with Copic markers. My daughter's favorite color is yellow so I tried to coordinate with the yellow in the papers. I fussy cut the girl leaving a white border around the edges and popped her up on the card with foam tape.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up the girl:
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E30, E35, E37, E39
Dress / Hair Tie: Y11, Y15
Bracelet: Y15

All of the measurements for the papers follow the sketch except the blue strip of pattern paper across the card which I trimmed to 4" across. But really is just a scrap like the two rectangles of paper I used. The sentiment is from the Bitty Birthday Bash stamps. It's perfect with this sweet girl. I finished off the card with a few enamel dots from my stash. I sure hope she likes it!

Next up, an anniversary card for my honey! Not only do we celebrate our daughter's birthday and Father's Day... we also celebrate our wedding anniversary. June is a busy month! I'm so excited to be ahead! My honey and I both have a love for old trucks so I searched through my stash and found this beautiful truck from the Ol' Fashion Holiday Love stamps. I love using my seasonal stamps for other occasions!

Inspiration for my second card actually comes from the {BYSHC} Sketch 29. You may recognize this sketch and even the papers I used for this card. Funny enough I used this sketch and the papers along with Echo of Kindness for a card last month. That's a funny coincidence I just now realized! I did alter the sketch a bit. The 'i love you' paper measures 4 x 5-1/4" and was cut in half diagonally. The roses were cut the same. I adhered them both to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of Vintage Cream card stock from Papertrey Ink. I decided I wanted to use the xoxo paper as well so I adhered it over the roses paper.

I stamped the truck from the Ol' Fashion Holiday Love using Amalgam Black ink again. I love this ink for my Unity stamps! It works for both Copic coloring and watercolor. Which reminds me, I haven't watercolored in a while. I really should. I had challenged myself to watercolor at least once a month, but it's been a long time.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used for the truck:
Red: R00, R20, R14, R37
Gray: N1, N3, N5
White: C00, C1, Colorless Blender
Background: E41

I fussy cut the truck leaving a border and popped it up on the card using a bunch of foam tape. I heat embossed the sentiment from the May 2024 Uniquely Unity Wind in Your Hair stamps. I prepped the pattern paper using the TE Anti-Static Powder Tool from Taylored Expressions. Stamped the sentiment using Sugar Cube White Pigment Ink, also from Taylored Expressions. Added some Alabaster White Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe and melted the powder using the Wagner Precision Heat Tool. We just got two new rose bushes for our yard so I think he'll love the roses on here. It's not my typical masculine card, but I'm thinking he'll like it. I hope so, at least!

Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...

Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 22 ~ Owl Rather Be With You ~ Gerda Steiner Designs

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for a fun new sketch over in the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Facebook group. Today I'm sharing my first card for the Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 22. Another birthday card! Woohoo! You may recognize this card design. Just like last month's Sketch 21, I used another 'scraps' card as my inspiration for this month's sketch. This was such a great sketch for those larger pieces of scraps. I thought it would be perfect as I'm trying to finish off the leftover papers I found in my stash in April. I can't believe it's taking me this long to finish off these papers!

Anywho, for this card I only used two pieces of leftover papers. I didn't have a full sheet to use as my background so I went with a card stock that is also a leftover from my Scrapping for Less days. I trimmed the card stock to 4 x 5-1/4" and adhered the pattern papers near the top center. I stamped the adorable owl and branch from the Owl Rather Be With You stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs on scraps of Stampers Select White Card Stock from Papertrey Ink using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. This adorable stamp set has been in my stash for awhile but this is the first time I've inked it up! Yay!

I found this stitched rectangle on my desk that the owl fit in just perfectly. It's a die cut from the awesome Frames & Tags Die Set from Newton's Nook Designs. I colored up the owl and branch using my Copic markers. Fussy cut them both on the line (excluding the tufts on the owls head - I left a bit of a white border) and then colored the edges of my cutting using a Memento Tuxedo Black marker making the cutting look all nice and neat.

Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:

Owl Eyes: W00, W1, W2
Owl Beak / Feet: YR21, YR15, YR14
Owl Feathers: W00, W1, W2, W3, W5
Branch: E55, E57, E59

Here's a look at the fun sketch for Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch Challenge 22. The sketch, as always, is meant to inspire not require. So let the sketch lead in your design, but don't feel limited by it. I didn't add dimensions for the pattern paper scraps as I'm sure we all have different sized scraps in our stash. The polka dot paper on my card is kind of long so I lowered the sentiment strip across the card. I think I actually covered up a portion of the polka dot paper with the sentiment. A good example of letting the sketch lead but not limiting the design.

I heat embossed the sentiments. I prepped my card stock first using the TE Anti-Static Powder Tool. Stamped the sentiment using Sugar Cube White Pigment Ink from Taylored Expressions. Added some Alabaster White Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe. And melted the powder using a Wagner Precision Heat Tool. I trimmed up the sentiments and adhered all of my layers to a white A2 top fold card base. I hope you all have fun with this sketch! I can't wait to see what you create with it. Have an ink-tastic week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Inky Hugs,
Crystal
