Today I'm sharing a simple Mother's Day card featuring the gorgeous camellia stamp from the Ink & Bloom: Camellia stamps just released at Unity. Such a gorgeous flower!
I stamped the gorgeous flowers and sentiment with Amalgam Black ink on white card stock and colored them with Copic markers.
Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:
Petals: B0000, B91, B23, B66
Stems / Leaves: G000, G24, G07
I die cut the flowers using the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Die Set. This is such a huge stamp I actually cut off a bit of the bottom.
I kept it very simple and just adhered the panel to a black A2 top fold card base that I turned on the side for a landscape card. I adore that sentiment!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.
Inky hugs,
Crystal

It's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! I have to be honest, this month's hop is a bit hard for me since my mom passed away over six years ago now. I miss her every day. I still struggle with making Mother's Day cards.
I'm very fortunate though to have beautiful, strong women in my life and I wanted to celebrate them this month even though they aren't my mother. So my cards this month are dedicated to them.
First up is a lovely card featuring the gorgeous Lauren Girl. I was drawn to her because of the gorgeous rose. Roses were my mother's favorite flower. I think it'll be a lovely card to send to my sister. She is the most wonderful mom I know.
I paired up Lauren Girl with the gorgeous Nostalgic Amour {paper pack}. Again, the roses got me! Though the papers have a vintage vibe to them I think they look nice with Lauren Girl. I probably could have distressed the edges around Lauren a bit for more a vintage feel, but I like the pop of white.
Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used to color up Lauren Girl:
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E71, E74, E77, E79
Shirt: R20, RV14, E23, E25
Capris: B91, B93, B95, B97
Shoes: R20, RV14
Rose: R20, RV14, RV06, R29
Leaves: G12, G24, G99
I used a die from the Stitched Scallop Basic Edge dies from My Favorite Things on the pattern paper with the roses. I adhered the pattern papers together and adhered them to a white A2 top fold card base. The sentiment from the Happy Mother's Day stamps illustrated by Graciellie Design was the perfect finishing touch for this card. I die cut it using a die from the Scalloped & Stitched Sentiment Nesting Dies. I popped up the sentiment with foam tape. Otherwise the rest of the layers are flat for easy mailing.
Next up, I've been wanting to play with the gorgeous flowers in the He Provides stamps. I love the floral stamps that Angie Blom illustrates for Unity! These are a favorite! Of course, I wanted to play with different colors so why not make a set of cards!?
A lovely yellow for my first card. Now I used the awesome Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils to color the flowers but since I had stamped the flowers on Stampers Select White card stock from Papertrey Ink rather than a watercolor paper I didn't use a lot of water. I also didn't get to add more pigment and more water but I love the light wash of color I got on these cards. And the mix of the colors is so fun. For this first card I used Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry for the petals and Salvaged Patina with Peeled Paint for the leaves and stems.
For my second card I used Kitsch Flamingo with Spiced Marmalade for the petals and Twisted Citron with Mermaid Lagoon for the leaves and stems. After coloring the flowers I die cut each of the panels using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}.
For my third card, I used Tumbled Glass with Shaded Lilac for the petals and Crushed Olive and Rustic Wilderness for the leaves and stems. I stamped the pretty 'Happy Mother's Day' sentiment also from the Happy Mother's Day stamps. So many lovely sentiments in this set of stamps!
For my final card I used Spun Sugar with Dusty Concord for the petals and Bundled Sage with Brushed Corduroy for the leaves and stems. I adhered the floral panels to A2 top fold card bases that coordinated with the card fronts. And for one final touch on each of the cards, I used a mini stencil from the Tim Holtz Mini Stencil Set 5 and my Vintage Photo Distress Ink blending brush, but without adding more ink so it was just a light touch on the white panel.
Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...
... Meg Crawford!! Congratulations, Meg!!

Well, that's it for me this time! Please hop along and enjoy some more inspiration from the Friends of Unity! I can't wait to see how our friends were inspired by this month's cue. I will be doing another fun giveaway this month!! Be sure to hop along and comment for a chance to win. {When you comment please leave your name just in case it posts as anonymous.} I'll announce the winner next month!
It's the first Saturday of May which means it's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! I've been so excited for this month's cue but I struggled to narrow down what I would create. It's such a fun cue. I hope that you all enjoy it and hop along to see all the wonderful inspiration. Now, onto our cue this month...
... Inspired By. This wonderful cue was Bobbie Sue's idea and I just love it! I find inspiration in so many places... from blogs, websites, challenges, and even day to day things like store ads. One fabulous source of inspiration that we all share in is the Unity Show & Tell. We are so lucky to have inspiration shared there daily in this wonderful group. If you're not a part of this group on Facebook, I hope you'll join us. I found three wonderful creations in the group that inspired my cards. Let's get to it...
First up is this gorgeous card that our sweet friend, Gaylynn, shared in the Unity Show & Tell group. The beautiful background that Gaylynn created inspired the background for my card.
I used the Vintage Script Embossing Folder to emboss my grey card stock measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". I lightly rubbed the embossed (or raised) portion with a white pigment ink pad. I also added a bit of white acrylic paint splatter on the background focusing the splatters diagonally across the background.
Have you seen this new gorgeous stamp from the birthday release? It's called Bittersweet Graduation and it's illustrated by the wonderfully talented Angie Blom. I colored it up with the following Copic Markers:
Grad Cap ~ N0, N2, N4, N6, Y06, Y35
Flowers ~ RV10, RV13, RV14, RV19, RV66
Berries ~ RV10, RV14, RV66, RV69
Leaves ~ G000, G24, G99
Background ~ C00, C1
I trimmed the bottom of the focal panel with my guillotine trimmer and started the cuts on the sides with my trimmer, as well. I then fussy cut the rest of the edge up to the script and flowers and continued fussy cutting leaving a bit of a white border around the image. The focal panel didn't look quite right just on the background. So I die cut a piece of vellum card stock using the second smallest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. I adhered the main panel to the vellum layer and then adhered both layers to the card by only adding glue behind the main panel. I finished off the card with a few black gems from my stash. I did end up adding a dot of glue behind that top gem just to help the vellum layer lay flat.
The next card that inspired me is this stunning card shared by Sandra van Blaricum. I was inspired by the flowers and the fussy cut front panel. I love the colors but I went with a different color palette.
My second card features the gorgeous Birthday Blooms... I love this gorgeous big floral stamp! This stamp can be purchased on its own or you can snag the wonderful Peony {Stamp & Stencil} Bundle that includes the gorgeous stamp and a stencil. If you don't like coloring, the stencil is perfect for ink blending over this beauty! AND Unity just released the Birthday Blooms {coordinating die}... unfortunately, it's out of stock already! Wow! That was fast!
I stamped the peony with Black Amalgam ink and colored it up with the following Copic Markers:
I fussy cut the Birthday Blooms on the line and then cleaned up the edges by coloring them with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. I've paired up the stamp with the amazing Vintage Whispers {paper pack} for a square vintage Mother's Day card. I started with a 5 x 10" white card base, scored at 5". I adhered my papers to the front and the inside of the card. Trimmed them up and then I adhered the flower. Now, when I went back to fussy cut around the flowers all these layers were pretty thick. If I was to redo this I would definitely adhere the flowers to the pattern paper and then trim. Adhere it to the card base and then trim off the extra card base. Just my two cents. The sentiment from the recently released The Very Best Gal was stamped with white pigment ink and then I applied some white embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool. I trimmed it up and adhered it directly to the card. To finish off this card, I added a few rhinestones from last month's Whit Kit.
And inspiration for my last card comes from this darling card by Robin Stanton. I just love the background she created for this card! I had to give it a try!
I kinda love how this one turned out! Hope you like it too! This card features the sweet All Ears stamp that just released for Unity's 15th Birthday! I love this pup! So fun and easy to color. I paired him up with the super sweet Cozy Textiles {paper pack}.
I die cut the papers using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. I ended up turning them around so the pup could set on the yellow line. Not at all my typical straight and perpendicular lines... love it! Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used to color up the pup:
I enjoyed this card design so much that I decided to turn it into a sketch. I'm also hosting a sketch challenge for this one with a prize in my Tawny Owl Paperie | Inky Inspiration Facebook group. I've been blessed the last couple weeks with so many crafty goodies from crafty friends... it just makes sense to do a sketch challenge and have a prize!! I hope that you'll join in the fun! The sketch challenge will run from today, May 30, and will end June 26th at 11:59pm PST. Entries must be added to the challenge album in the Tawny Owl Paperie | Inky Inspiration Facebook group to be eligible for a prize. The winner will be chosen randomly from the entries and I'll announce the winner in the group. Hope you'll play along!
I fussy cut the pup for my card but I did see that Unity released an All Ears {coordinating die}... that's going on my wishlist! I adhered all my layers to a white A2 top fold card that I turned on its side for a horizontal card. And I decided to not add any bling or anything. I think it's cute how it is.
Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...
... Wilma DeGraffenreid!! Congratulations Wilma!!

It's the first Saturday of April which means it's time for our Friends of Unity Blog Hop!! Okay... can someone please tell time to slow down. This year is zipping by so fast!! Before we get to the cue and my cards, I wanted to welcome two sweet new friends to our hop. Tammy Hawes and Jane Bosi are joining us on the Friends of Unity team and I am super excited to have these talented ladies join us! I am a huge fan of their creations and I hope you'll give both of them a great big welcome! Now, onto our fun cue this month...
Butterflies!! I love butterflies!! I think this was actually one of the cues that I suggested for 2023. Unity has a bunch of butterfly stamps. If you do a search on the website just for butterfly 160 results come up! And each of them are so beautiful! Needless to say it was kinda hard to narrow down which stamps to use.
My first card features the beautiful butterfly from the Another Name for Love stamps designed by Gina K. Designs for Unity. I stamped the butterfly with Black Amalgam ink and colored it up with Copic Markers. I fussy cut the butterfly and adhered it to a die cut circle of vellum card stock leaving the wings free so I just put glue under the body of the butterfly.
I die cut pattern paper with a stitched scalloped die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies} from Unity. The vellum circle was then adhered to the pattern paper circle using a bit of liquid glue under the butterflies body again. Here's a quick list of the Copic Markers I used:
I finished off the card with a few gems from my stash... the Silver Glitter Gems from Close to My Heart. I wanted to add a little sparkle but I also needed to add a bit more adhesive to the vellum card stock. It was sticking up a bit. Adding the gems gave me an opportunity to add a few more dots of liquid glue to the vellum under the gems.
I have been working hard to add more birthday cards to my stash AND mail them out. So happy with how this set of cards turned out.
I used Crushed Olive Distress Oxide ink on Limeade Ice card stock from Papertrey Ink. While the ink was still wet I added some fine clear embossing powder and melted it with my Wagner Precision Heat Tool. I used the following Copic Markers for the green butterfly ~ YG11, YG03, G24 {in person this butterfly coordinates much better than it looks in the pictures}.
Each of the backgrounds were die cut using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. And then they were adhered to a white A2 top fold card base measuring 4-1/4 x 11" and scored at 5-1/2". I stamped the background for this one twice. Thank goodness that card stock has two sides!! But still my embossed background had a couple open spaces in the bottom. I know the stamp is fine though because it did fine with the other inks so I'm thinking my ink pad needs to be re-inked...?
Anywho, for this one I used Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink over Lavender Moon card stock from Papertrey Ink. I really thought I had grabbed a pink card stock. LOL! Thankfully the two colors work really well together. I used the following Copic Markers for my pink butterfly ~ RV000, RV10, RV13.
I die cut some vellum card stock with the smallest rectangle die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. I trimmed the longer edge to 2-3/4". I die cut circles from each of the card stocks with a die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}.
I paired up Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink with Aqua Mist card stock from Papertrey Ink for this card. I used the following Copic Markers for the aqua butterfly ~ BG000, BG10, BG32.
I gently folded up the wings of each of the butterflies and adhered their bodies to the die cut circles. I then adhered the circles to the vellum 'squares' and added glue behind the circles to adhere the vellum to the cards.
For my last card I paired up Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink with Winter Wisteria card stock from Papertrey Ink. I used the following Copic Markers for the purple butterfly ~ V000, V12, V17.
The sentiments were stamped with Sugar Cube Pigment ink from Taylored Expressions on the different colors of card stock and then I heat embossed Alabaster White embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. I die cut each of the sentiments with a Banner Nesting Die {from the March 2023 Whit Kit}. I finished up this set of birthday cards by popping up the sentiments with foam tape.
Now before we get to the hopping, I chose a lucky winner from the comments on last month's hop to win a fun prize and the lucky winner is...
