Membership Monday ~ June 2021 KOM Magical Summer Days ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!

Well, my last Membership Monday of June... this month has flown by! I hope that you've enjoyed a little inspiration using different membership kits from Unity Stamp Co. I hope to keep up this new segment for my blog and maybe even incorporate a video or two as time allows... let me know in the comments if you're enjoying it. I'd love to know which card has been your favorite this month!

Today, I am sharing one more card using the fabulous Kit of the Month membership... I adore this beautiful girl!! I paired her up with the pretty Simple Spring {paper pack} from the May 2021 Whit Kit which is available separately now. I also added a couple wood hearts from an embellishment included in one of the older Whit Kit's called the Amazing Mini Wood Flourishes.

I used the following Copic markers for this beautiful girl:

Skin / Lips ~ E000, E00, E11, R00, R20, R32
Hair ~ Y21, YR12
Hat ~ E21, E33, E37
Watch / Ring ~ C00, C2, BG10, BG32, R22
Shirt ~ R20, R21, R22, Colorless Blender
Pants ~ C00, C2, C3
Bag ~ BG10, BG32, Y15, Y35, E33, E37, Colorless Blender
Outline ~ B000

Here's a look at the entire Kit of the Month for June! So many fabulous stamps!
I hope you've been inspired to pull out your Kit of the Month and get it inky! I'll see you next Monday with a pretty card I created using the new July 2021 Background of the Month stamp!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas ~ June 2021 Edition

 Hello there crafty friend!

I am super excited to be back guesting with the fantastic Crafty Elves! Last month I was just a quick fill in for another guest who wasn't able to participate at the last minute. But this month, I am a full on guest and that means that I've been getting inky and I've made four cards to share with you all today!!

Woohoo! I'm SO excited!
I promise though, I'll keep the chit chat down so you can get moving right on through to all the wonderful creations from the Crafty Elves!

Of course, I just HAD to use the {BYSHC} Sketch 11 for my first card! I made a similar card at the beginning of the month and since I already had the papers cut, I decided to make a second card which was perfect for today's hop! I used the adorable Heart Warming Itty Bitty stamp from Unity along with the cute Santa's Workshop papers from Carta Bella.

Here's a look at Sketch 11. I'd love to invite you to join us over at Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Facebook group and start building your stash of holiday cards now rather than stressing out later in the year!

Isn't that just the cutest snowman stamp!? So much fun to color!
Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:

Snow ~ C00, C2
Scarf / Hat / Mittens ~ BG10, BG01, R000, R14, R27, C00, C2
Bear ~ E21, E23, E27, G21, G24, G46
Background ~ B0000, B00

My second card using the sweet Miss Anya Hello Winter from The Greeting Farm along with the Really Rainbow Christmas papers from Lawn Fawn. Such a fun card! The sentiment is from the adorable Little Elves stamp set also from The Greeting Farm.

I usually do brown or blond hair when I'm coloring, but I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone. I did black hair a bit ago... but I got to thinking pink hair would be perfect for this girl and it's so cute with the rainbow colors in the papers. Here's a quick list of the Copic markers I used:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11, R01, R20
Hair ~ RV02, RV04, RV19
Hat / Boots ~ BV000, BV01, C00, C2, C3
Coat ~ BV000, BV01
Dress ~ B0000, B00, B02
Snowman ~ C00, C2, YR15, YR68

My third card is one that I have worked on and struggled with for quite some time. It's amazing how a card can be so stubborn! LOL! I had these snowmen from the fun Snow Way stamp set by Unity all colored up and I even had a background ready, but the layout never seemed right. I started working on this background (which was actually supposed to be for the fairies in my next card) and something about it made me think it'll work better with these snowmen. And it does! The background is ink smooshed with Wilted Violet and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide inks and the snowflake border is the Bold Borders: Flurries die from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment is from the cute Cuddlebug Frog stamp set from Unity that I stamped with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink.

I used the following Copic markers for these cute snowmen:

Snowmen ~ R00, R01, R14, R27, YR15, YR68
Snowman #1 ~ G0000, G00, Y000, Y02
Snowman #2 ~ Y000, Y02, C00, C2
Snowman #3 ~ V000, V12, C00, C2, Y000, Y02
Snowman #4 ~ B0000, B00, V000, V12, Y000, Y02

My fourth card is a sweet mini slimline scene card that I created using the adorable Frosty Fairy Friends stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I mentioned above how I struggled with the snowmen in my third card... well, this background is the one that I was struggling to use with those snowmen. I think the colors were just off a bit, but it works perfectly with these adorable fairies. I used Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks to blend the background. I die cut the snowy hills using the Slimline Stitched Hillside Borders dies, also from Lawn Fawn.

I adhered all the elements of my little scene on the card, popping up the little fairies. I was going to leave it as a 3 x 6" panel but then my new mini slimline dies arrived from Gina Marie Design sooo... I ended up trimming my panel just a tad to 2-7/8 x 5-7/8" and adhered it to a Pleated Lace Mini Slimline die cut from white card stock. I used the following Copic markers for this sweet card:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11
Dresses ~ B0000, B00, B02
Fairy #1 ~ YR24, YR30, E33 {hair}, RV000, RV10, RV52 {wings}, C00, C2 {scarf}
Fairy #2 ~ E08, E09, E21 {hair}, BV0000, BV000, BV01 {wings}, C00, C2 {scarf}
Snow ~ C00, C2
Mushrooms ~ R000, R14, R46, C00, C2, W00, W1, W2
Fairy House ~E37, E51, E55, E59, N0, N3, R000, R14, R46, Y0000, Y02, Y06, Y15, B000, B00, B02
Trees ~ C00, C2, E37, E55

Well, that's it for me... which means my time as a guest of the Crafty Elves has come to an end. *Sigh* But I hope you've been inspired to get a head start on your holiday cards! Be sure to stop by The Crafty Elves' blogs to see their fantastic creations this month:

Membership Monday ~ June 2021 BOM Tropical Palm ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
For this week's Membership Monday I'm featuring the fabulous new June 2021 Background of the Month from Unity Stamp Co. called Tropical Palm!! This background makes me want to go on vacation and have a yummy mojito... so of course, I used the Hello Mojito stamp set for my card!!

Isn't it a beautiful background and I love it paired up with the pretty mojito stamp! I blended Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade and Kitsch Flamingo on a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of white card stock and then I stamped the Tropical Palm background stamp with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink. I did a little water splatter but it doesn't really show up in the photos. I trimmed the background to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8" and mat it with a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of Hibiscus Burst card stock from Papertrey Ink. I then mat the card front on a white A2 top fold card base and set it aside.

I stamped the mojito glass with Gina K. Design Amalgam Black ink and heat set it with my Mini Wagner Heat Tool. I colored it up with the following Copic markers:

Mint Leaves ~ YG11, G07, G14
Limes ~ YG11, G14, G21
Ice Cubes / Glass ~ C00, C2, YG0000, YG01, Colorless Blender
Straw / Hearts ~ RV04, RV52

If you've been inspired to get it inky with this fun new Background of the Month stamp, I hope you share it in the Unity {Show & Tell} Facebook group... I'd love to see what you create! I'll see you next Monday with another card using the fabulous June 2021 Kit of the Month stamps!

3 Day Mermaid Hop ~ Mixed Media Cards ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I'm back for the last day of the 3 Day Mermaid Hop and today I'm sharing not just one card, but two Mixed Media cards!! I'm on a mission to use those must have crafty items in my stash that have just been collecting dust and the beautiful 12 x 12 Mermaid Dreams stencil by The Crafters Workshop was definitely a must have and it was also really dusty. LOL! I paired it up with a couple of new dies that just released over at Unity Stamp Co. These new dies are awesome... and cut like a dream!! I also played with some neglected Distress Oxide Sprays and Glacier Paste to create my background!!
So Fun!!

I started with a large 5-3/4 x 8-1/2" piece of Canson XL watercolor paper. No particular reason for this size, it was just a piece I had left over from another project and it was big enough to fit the mermaid's tail. I sprayed it with water and then spritzed some Antique Linen, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Sprays. I also splattered some Walnut Stain and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Sprays all over the background. I did this by opening the bottle and tapping the top of the bottle over the whole panel.

I then laid the Mermaid Dreams stencil over the dried background and applied some Sea Sprite Glacier Paste from Nuvo over the stencil. I let it dry over night and then applied some more of the glacier paste giving the mermaid tail more dimension. I let it dry again over night. I die cut the Here's a Hug {die} three times from Kraft card stock and then adhered them all together using Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue. When adhering dies cuts together I like to use tiny dots of glue all along the die. I've found it to be the best way to not get too messy. For this first card, I cut the background down to 4 x 5-1/4" and mat it on a Kraft card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" and then I adhered it to a Kraft A2 top fold card base. I adhered the background to the card front first to make it a bit more flat and sturdy.

Now for the second card, I also cut the background to 4 x 5-1/4" but before I adhered it to a Kraft card front I wanted to add some Sand embossing powder to the corners. I used a VersaMarker which is just a watermark pen and scribbled around the corners so the embossing powder would look kind of like sand laying on the card. I added the Hero Arts Sand embossing powder to the areas that I scribbled with the VersaMarker and then melted the embossing powder with my Mini Wagner heat tool. For the bottom left corner I wanted the embossing powder to have some real texture so I scribbled over it again with the VersaMarker and added more Sand embossing powder. And then I did it a third time.

I recently ordered some fun embellishments from Twiddler's Nook and I was excited to use the Glass Beach Embellishment mix on this card. I added some Ranger Multi Medium Matte along the edge of the Sand embossing powder and than added some of the Glass Beach Embellishment mix. I especially love the beautiful pearls in the mix! The colors were perfect for this project! All that was left was the sentiment... I chose the 'hello' die from the Chic Script Salutations {die set} - a fabulous set of dies also from Unity Stamp Co.!!

I die cut the 'hello' shadow from Vellum card stock and then die cut the 'hello' die three times from Kraft card stock. I adhered all of those 'hello' dies together with Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue and then dabbed it on my VersaMark Watermark ink pad. Then I added some of the Sand embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool. I did that a total of three times to really give it dimension. It is so cool in person!!

Be sure to check out the hashtag #mermaidsarereal to see all the other fabulous mermaid creations being shared in the hashtag hop! Some of the stops on the hop are having giveaways!

Before you go... let me know in the comments what's your favorite product to use on mermaid cards? 3 Day Mermaid Hop ~ Salina Girl & Ocean Waves Background ~ Unity Stamp Co.

Hello there crafty friend!
It's day 2 of the 2nd Annual 3 Day Mermaid Hop and I am back with another pretty mermaid card!! This time I'm featuring the gorgeous Salina Girl stamp from Unity Stamp Co. along with the awesome Ocean Waves Background stamp! Love these two stamps together!

I stamped the Ocean Waves Background stamp on Canson XL watercolor paper with Gina K. Design Amalgam black ink. I heat set it with my Mini Wagner Heat tool and then blended Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks over the background. I added some water splatter by spritzing water into the palm of my hand and then clapping over the background. I let the water sit for just a bit and then dabbed the background with a paper towel. The oxide inks covered up a bit of the stamped background so I stamped the background again over the blended inks to make it a crisp black image again. I couldn't find just the right purple card stock in my stash so I decided to make my own by blending Wilted Violet Distress Oxide over Canson XL watercolor paper. I die cut it with a large scalloped rectangle die and then mat it on True Black card stock.

I die cut the Ocean Waves Background with two stitched rectangle dies so that I could pop up the center panel to give the card more dimension. I stamped the sentiment on a wide strip of Vellum card stock with Wow Clear Embossing ink and melted a fine black embossing powder with a Mini Wagner heat tool. I wrapped the sentiment around the top panel adding just a tiny bit of adhesive behind the sentiment and under where the mermaid would be placed. I mat both background layers with True Black card stock and adhered them together and then onto the card front.

I stamped the beautiful Salina Girl with Wow Clear Embossing ink and watercolored her with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush markers. To tie in the purple scallop layer, I added a bit of purple to the center of the flowers. I love how they turned out! Sometimes I struggle with watercoloring hair, but I'm really happy with how her hair turned out. Once the image was dry, I fussy cut it leaving a skinny white border and then I popped up the mermaid on the card with foam tape.

To finish off the card, I added a few Ebony Black Nuvo Gloss Crystal drops
Love it! I hope you like it too!

3 Day Mermaid Hop ~ Trishell ~ The Greeting Farm

Hello there crafty friend!
I'm so excited to be joining a bunch of crafty friends in the 2nd Annual 3 Day Mermaid Hop!! I just adore mermaids and this hop is a perfect chance to ink up some of my favorite mermaid stamps!

Today, I'm sharing a card I made with the beautiful Trishell stamp from The Greeting Farm. Isn't she just the cutest?! The Greeting Farm has a bunch of adorable mermaids in their shop. I chose this one because I haven't inked her up yet and one of my crafty goals this year has been to ink up those neglected stamps that I had to have in my collection.

I stamped Trishell twice, first on a scrap of white card stock and then again on a white card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". I set the one on the scrap card stock aside and grabbed a couple of stencils to create my background. Using Trishell as my guide, I blended the Wave stencil from The Crafters Workshop along with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink... but on a side note, I hadn't cleaned my blending brush so I think the waves have a bit of Peacock Feathers blended in there too. For the sun rays I used the Rays mini stencil found in the Tim Holtz Mini Stencil Set 5 and I blended Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink over that one.

I set aside the background and got to coloring this sweet mermaid with the following Copic markers:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11, R01, R20
Hair ~ BV0000, BV000, BV11
Bikini / Tail ~ BG10, BG13, BG32, BG57
Conch Shell ~ RV000, RV10, RV21, BV11, E35

I fussy cut the mermaid and made the edges all nice and clean with a Memento Tuxedo black marker. I die cut the background with a stitched rectangle die. I then grabbed a piece of Weathervane card stock and fussy cut a rock free hand. I added a bit of shading to the rock with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I adhered the rock to the background and then adhered the mermaid over top being sure to line her up just right over the mermaid in the background. I added some white gel pen to the pearls on her bikini strap and added some Simply White Nuvo Gloss Crystal Drops to her hair. I popped up the background with foam tape adhering it to a white A2 top fold card base. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white card stock and trimmed it. I cut a couple of skinny strips from the foam tape and adhered them to the bottom and right side of the sentiment so it would sit level and then I also used some Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue on the top portion of the sentiment to adhere it in place.

Be sure to check out all the other creations in the 3 Day Mermaid Hop by checking out the hashtag #mermaidsarereal. Some of the stops on the hop are having giveaways!

Before you go... let me know in the comments what's your favorite color combo for mermaids? Mine is purple and teal. I'll be picking one lucky winner from the comments during the 3 Day Mermaid Hop that will win a Mer-Mazing Prize Package!*

I'll be back tomorrow with another beautiful mermaid card!

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 11 ~ Bounty of Wreaths ~ Brutus Monroe

 Hello there crafty friend!
I seem to be on a bit of a roll with the exclusive Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember stamp sets... so why not share one more?! The Bounty of Wreaths stamp set by Brutus Monroe isn't just a Christmas set, it actually has a Halloween, a Fall, and a Christmas wreath and a bunch of coordinating sentiments. Such an awesome stamp set and I'm so happy to finally make a card with it.

Now, this wreath was actually stamped out sometime around last Christmas. I even colored the pine cones... but it's been sitting on my side table just waiting for me to finish it up. I saw it the other day and thought it would be perfect for the {BYSHC} Sketch 11... and I think it works. I did alter the sketch a bit by not cutting the edge off of my 'circle' image but... I couldn't cut the wreath!! It's too pretty! I paired up the pretty wreath with a more rustic paper pad but it's also from Brutus Monroe... the Winter Cabin paper collection. This paper pad isn't necessarily just for Christmas... it would be great for Masculine cards, but I think it works really nicely with this wreath stamp.

I colored all the fun elements of this wreath and then got to the ornaments and I was stumped so I asked my daughter what color to use. She came over to my Copic marker collection and picked B04... a beautiful bright blue. Not what I was leaning towards but I used it and I love how it turned out.
Here's a list of the Copic markers I used:

Pinecones ~ E51, E55, E57
Bells ~ YR21, YR24, E15, E18
Bows ~ R000, R14, R27
Berries ~ C00, C2
Candy Canes ~ C00, C2, R000, R14, R27
Stars ~ Y06, Y15, Y35, Y38
Ornaments ~ B00, B04, B12
Wreath ~ G21, G24, G46

Here's another look at {BYSHC} Sketch 11.
I hope you'll join in the fun start building your stash along with us in the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Facebook group. If you're interested in seeing more inspiration using this sketch, stop by the {BYSH} Cardmakers blog.

Stamping Through a Stencil ~ Remember to Breathe ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
I am back with another card featuring the beautiful new Remember to Breathe stamp from Unity Stamp Co. This beauty is a new Graciellie Design stamp that is now available in red rubber!! I am a huge fan of Graciellie Design stamps and butterflies!! So when I saw this beauty I just knew I had to play with it and had a fun idea to do some stamping through a stencil using the Wonky Stripes Background and Just a Dash Background stamps that released awhile ago that I hadn't gotten a chance to play with until now.

Isn't that just a beautiful butterfly?! I love it! I colored it very simply with three Copic markers: Y06, Y15, Y38 and then I fussy cut it and set it aside to make the background.

What I love about the technique I used is that it doesn't give a complete impression of the stamp... it's more of a imperfect distressed background. I did not plan on doing the additional blending around the oval but since I smudged some of the ink around the edges of the oval that was my 'fix'. The butterfly covers some of the background but I love how you can see the Wonky Stripes Background stamp in the Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac oxide inks and then the Just a Dash Background in the Amalgam black ink. These two background stamps are made to overlap and it was so fun to finally ink them up!

Here you can see more of the background. Perfectly imperfect! I love it! I hope you do too.
I have a quick video on my YouTube channel sharing my process in creating the background. You can check that out here... Stamping Through a Stencil | Remember to Breathe.

To finish up this card, I added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss to the butterfly and I popped up the sentiment with foam tape. A pretty CAS card with a fun background technique. I hope you're inspired to play with some of your background stamps. Be sure to check out the new release over at Unity Stamp Co. and, of course, there's a fabulous sale going on!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
See ya next time.

Ink Smooshed Geometric Background ~ The Best You Can ~ Unity Stamp Co.

 Hello there crafty friend!
It's time for another fun release over at Unity Stamp Co. and I have a pretty card to share with you today!! I used two new releases to create my card... the cool 3D Cube Background stamp and the gorgeous The Best You Can stamp set a new release by Graciellie Design!

What do you think? I like the contrast with the mix of flowers and the geometric design of the background... and who doesn't love ink smooshed backgrounds?! I really love the mix of colors I used for this one, too... Blueprint Sketch and Broken China. Not a combo I would typically use but I think it's awesome together. I started my card by ink smooshing the two Distress Oxide colors and then once that was dry, I stamped over them with the 3D Cube Background stamp with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink. I set that aside and colored up the beautiful magnolias from The Best You Can stamp set. I love florals by Graciellie Design... always SO gorgeous!

We have several magnolia trees in our neighborhood and one right in front of our house. I just love how pretty they are and they smell so good! So I decided to color up these magnolias just like the ones in the front of our house... a simple white beautiful magnolia. I used the following Copic markers to color up the magnolias:

Petals ~ C00, C2, C3
Corolla {center} ~ Y06, Y15, Y38
Stem ~ E33, E37, E47

To keep with the geometric design, I die cut a piece of black card stock with a Geometric Double Frame die by Gina Marie Design. I adhered that to the background that I had trimmed down and mat with a black card front measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2". I fussy cut the magnolias and popped them up with foam tape. Then I trimmed the sentiment just leaving it on plain white card stock and popped it up on the card, also with foam tape. To finish off the card, I added a few Simply White Nuvo Gloss Crystal Drops. I sure love how this turned out! I hope you do too! Go check out all the beautiful new releases over at Unity Stamp Co.!! So many pretty new stamps and even new dies!!

I'm linking up my card to the following challenges:

Happiness Is ~ A Good Book ~ Polka Dot Orchard

 Hello there crafty friend!
I had so much fun the other creating a scene card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge that I just HAD to make another one!! This time I used the adorable A Good Book digi stamp from Polka Dot Orchard. Such a cute gnome reading under a mushroom... doesn't she look so happy!

I resized and combined the image along with the sentiment in a Word document and then print them off. I die cut the image with a stitched circle die because I already had this card design in mind. I trimmed the sentiment and set it aside. I colored the scene with the following Copic markers:

Skin ~ E000, E00, E11
Hair ~ YR14, YR15, YR16, YR21
Hat ~ B0000, B000, B00, B02
Dress ~ Y00, Y02, Y15, Y35
Shoes ~ E51, E55, E57
Book ~ R14, R27, C2
Mushroom ~ W00, W1, W3, R14, R27, R46
Sky ~ B0000, B000, B00

Now the sun and the clouds I had colored awhile ago and I didn't write the markers down for those sadly. I would guess the clouds are B00 and B0000; and the sun probably the same yellows I used for the gnome's dress ~ Y00, Y02, Y15, Y35. But I'm not totally sure. The sun and clouds are from the Rain or Shine digi stamp set also available at Polka Dot Orchard. The tree papers are from the Pink Lemonade paper pack from The Paper Studio. I trimmed a few strips of black card stock and Chocolate Chip card stock to adhere above and below the patterned paper. I added a bit of color to the sentiment using a mix of the Copic markers I listed above. I adhered the sun, clouds, and sentiment to the focal piece using Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue and then popped up the entire piece with foam tape.

Here's a look at the fun A Good Book digi stamp set.

Here's one more look at the card and I'm linking up my card to the following challenges:
